Fool 08-28-2004, 12:57 PM I haven't had any problems. Sir Lucius 08-28-2004, 12:58 PM Link me because I'm not bothering to search for some comment you imagined. They're calling it "beta" and labelling the thing ingame as a "demo" instead: [IMhjG]http://upload.serverseed.com/pictars4/05.JPG[/IMG] They are not going to be accepting any gameplay or feature related requests at this point (too late) and any past claims of working with the community to include the missing features previously provided by clientside scripting will just have to be dealt with in the full retail version, after a patch or two. Now that I see what they are using for a "demo" I can wait until the first T:V patch and the release of SS:2845 before purchasing the game. The game as I see it now is crap. Okay, change of plan people. Rather than posting exploits as bugs, please PM us. After some discussion here in the office, we've decided we don't want exploits out in the open. PM myself or KP with exploits you discover. The reasoning is this - Open Beta acts as much as a demo as a Beta, and as such we need it to run smoothly. So ignore what I said in my original post, please PM us with any exploits you discover. That being said, please don't abuse exploits you discover or hear about! You'll alienate new players, make yourself look like a total dick, and the exploit will eventually be squashed anyway. Cheers, Ant . Neek 08-28-2004, 01:01 PM This happens every time a new game comes out. Zillions of people host servers on machines and connections that have no buisness hosting a server. As a result, you end up getting tons of lag. Give it time, and the quality servers will emerge. Menzo 08-28-2004, 01:01 PM That screen was made for the single-player demo and inserted into the beta. I guess we could have delayed the beta another day (in this case three days because of the weekend) to have someone at Irrational change that one graphic to say Demo, but silly us, we thought we would get the game into your hands. It is a beta. Bugs are still being fixed. There may or may not be another version of the game released to the public before the game ships but Irrational is still reading the boards and watching people play while they finish the game. LouCypher 08-28-2004, 01:08 PM I once asked here if the T2 Demo was going to be updated in conjunction with the last patch, 25834. Thrax politely replied that the demo is never updated because they do not want multiple versions of it floating around on the net, confusing potential customers who may not be able to play or don't know to update to the latest demo. That's why you can join a T2 demo server today and have a <NULL> player bug flashback. FilePlanet people are getting earlier access to a multiplayer demo and nothing more. It will be the same version everyone else downloads next week but it still won't be an "open beta" regardless of what they want to call it. Sir Lucius 08-28-2004, 01:15 PM The beta acts as a demonstration. They might not release a patch during the beta, but the reports they do gather and fixes they make will go into the gold edition. How is that not beta testing? jsut 08-28-2004, 01:33 PM lou's on a troll this afternoon. DocHolliday 08-28-2004, 01:41 PM Been playing beta for the past month or two, very few problems. Only problems I run into seem to all be server related with the occasional small bug in the game thats already been posted or fixed. Been pretty smooth as far as I am concerned. | ||
