What laptop to get

Switch is in the Navy and has asked me about getting a laptop so he is not unplugged for too long. I have never owned a laptop and have done a lil research but thought I'd get some input from you.
What's good?
Any deals goin on?

great battery life and really good gaming considering they are laptops, the CL56 is the same shell that voodoo pc uses for their m:360 laptop and its significantly cheaper

i just got the 1557gl and its a really nice laptop, especially for gaming.

I work at a computer repair shop and the one line of laptops we rarley have come in for problems other than user error are toshiba laptops.
