system: AMD 2500+, 512mb buffalo tech CH5 memory, ATI 9700 pro

First problem:
Every other time I restart my computer, my keyboard/mouse don't work. They'll light up and everything, but they don't work. Keyboard has new batteries, and has been problem free till now. The problem isn't intermittent, it's just every other time I reset my computer. It doesn't go out on me, nothing.

Here are the errors that the windows Event Viewer:

The device sent an incorrect response(s) following a mouse reset.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Could not set the keyboard indicator lights.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Could not set the keyboard typematic rate and delay.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

It gives these same 3 errors every time.

Problem number 2:
While looking at the event viewer, it brought up that they had some bad blocks on my HDD.
..

The device, \Device\Harddisk1\D, has a bad block.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Alright, I don't think that there is much I can. the HDD1 is my 80gb Western Digital. I did a RMA with it, but when the replacement drive arrived, I realized the problem I was faced with wasn't with the HDD, but Nforce IDE drivers. I now no longer use the IDE drivers.

I recently had to reinstall windows on my computer because the same HDD gave me a problem with my windows 2000 install and kept me from being able to load windows.

However, I'm faced with something telling me I have bad blocks on the HDD.
What should I do?

I appreciate all help.

Mouse isn't wireless. I have the Logitech Elite Duo, which came with a wireless mouse. However, that mouse sucks for gaming.

The mouse isn't USB. The keyboard is, and uses USB to PS2 adaptor.

I'm really stumped on this.

"Keyboard has new batteries,"

I would hazard a guess and say, yes.
