Teflonatron 08-18-2004, 08:02 PM So, the sounds the pod makes are annoying to me, and I'd like to change them. I had hoped that it was simply an .ogg file I could edit/replace, but it appears that it's not. Instead, it looks like the vehicle sounds are kept in .pkg files.
Does anybody know how to open these .pkg files, or edit the sound effects for vehicles (specifically the pod)?
IrritAnt 08-18-2004, 08:56 PM You need the editor, which hasn't been released yet :P
You could try using UnrealEd, but I'd be hesitant to do anything that might screw up your installation.
In fact, I'd say definitely don't do it. If you need to report a sound related bug, it's one variable we can't keep track of.

Calder 08-18-2004, 09:00 PM Is UnrealEd downloadable standalone?
If so, LINK :(

get the Runtime 2 Engine which is free and has the basic UED 3.0 in it.
TV will obviously have its own editor but learning UED will prolly get you 90% there.
Calder 08-18-2004, 09:07 PM Direct link? :|
Calder 08-18-2004, 09:33 PM I tried to join a .pkg with the editor, and it crashed unrealed :(
Teflonatron 08-18-2004, 10:18 PM The pod sound just drones on and on and on when I'm using it. It's tolerable at short bursts, but I've turned to being quite a pod whore, so I'm exposed to it for a longer period of time. It's my own fault, I suppose. I shouldn't be a pod whore after all... :(
I'd also like to add, that I would greatly appreciate the ability to edit those sound files in some future and on-going release of T:V. What harm would it cause?
IrritAnt 08-18-2004, 10:24 PM If you mean in the game, that'd be a feature and we're not adding any more features, at least not at the moment. You'll be able to edit them in the editor when it's released.
Rosdower 08-18-2004, 10:28 PM yeah, we've been working on DP but don't know what to do about the pkg's :[
i dont wanna wait for a editor
Ludicrous Speed 08-18-2004, 10:28 PM have you tried winzip or winrar? i know quake 3 uses the zip algorithm to package stuff, I have no experience with unreal though

I don't have the game to test. But if you goto the page it *seems* to be able to do what you need. But, as IrritAnt said, maybe you shouldn't. :)
edit - fixed link
http://unreal.epicgames.com/files/436_pkg_commandlet.zip = 404 :\
Tajora 08-19-2004, 12:29 AM It's a 404 for me to, you got any mirrors?
[hAuS] C R A B 08-19-2004, 01:32 AM Sorry bout that ... http://turniej.unreal.pl/dane/pliki/ued/patche/436_pkg_commandlet.zip
Solarius 08-19-2004, 12:50 PM Make the pod more annoying, like a high pitched screeching sound. Add it to HO's too so that anyone using either will develop bad headaches and eventually give up using them.. ;)
Unless they turn off the sound...
