TRIBES Vengeance Open Beta Soon? [August 18, 2004, 10:37 am EDT] - Viewing Comments
A post to the Vivendi Universal Games Forums (thanks GameGossip) has word on plans for open beta testing for TRIBES Vengeance. The update stresses that there is no official release date, but they describe tentative plans to begin an open multiplayer test as early as this month:

It is expected sometime this month, August, but that is subject to change if there are more bugs or other items that need fixing before it is released for testing.

I thought that was one of the reason you have open beta, to find and fix bugs ^__^

Ned just mods the vug boards. He doesn't know anything you guys dont. (Then again, he's posting month-old info as well. So it really doesn't matter. But I wouldn't consider it a statement from VUG.)

It's half that and half marketing. ZProtoss had a pretty good post about how you need to have any big gameplay changes done before open beta, because if you change it after, then you'll have thousands of people bitching about how it was better before and thousands more cheering the change as a step in the right direction and people get sour on the game just from the changes and the bitching rather than on the game itself.

Not to mention any bugs that remain are repeatedly posted by thousands of people, and ones you haven't logged slip through the cracks.

Was Q3's open more stable than T:V's current beta?

I don't believe so, not in my opinion

wasn't as fun, thats for sure. (I don't remember having many (if any) crashes with the q3 test...then again, i've only had 1 crash to desktop with t:v)
