I am not sure if I need to get registered memory or not. Also, I think I should get a retail proc to get the warranty form AMD? I am not sure, this is my first time building an AMD system. All you gurus of TW with your plentiful knowledge, please help me.

If you get the OEM version has a 1 year warranty and the RETAIL has a 3 year. If you get the OEM be sure you get a seperate heatsink+fan as it wont come with the stock one.

Yeah, I thought about that. Because I put my system together and got my intel processor retail so it came with the heatsink and fan. Does everything else look ok?

I'd suggest the nForce2 chipset over the KT600. Its performance is a little better, it has very good dual channel support, and you have the option of nice onboard sound. You don't really need registered memory, but I'm not much of a fan of Kingston ValueRAM as a couple of my friends have gotten non working sticks before. Also if your cousin ever plans on upgrading in the future, it's really worth it to buy PC3200 or higher.

Ok, I switched the mobo for an Nforce 2 and the memory for Mushkin 512 mb PC 3200 Ram
