SexPistol 08-12-2004, 03:09 AM Will the Beta demos you record be playable in the final release of the game?
And will the current demos I have recorded be able to be played after the beta update?
In fact, when will we be able to watch demos in the first place? :P
IrritAnt 08-12-2004, 03:23 AM Unfortunately it's almost certain that demos recorded with one version of the game won't work with a later version, and vice versa. That applies to the different versions of the Beta, and between the Beta and the final release as well.
Colosus 08-12-2004, 03:24 AM What about after the game releases and there's a patch (heaven forbid)?
*cough* Tribes 2 *cough*
JodoFett 08-12-2004, 03:26 AM Working demos would make my epic films a lot easier to get footage for.
NAT Mav 08-12-2004, 03:26 AM What about after the game releases and there's a patch (heaven forbid)?
*cough* Tribes 2 *cough*
Ignore this guy, he sucks @ Tribes anyways.
IrritAnt 08-12-2004, 03:36 AM Good question. Don't know for sure, but I doubt they'll work.
edit: I should have said IF there's a need for a patch WHICH I doubt there will be...
lol so demos are useless once a patch comes out?
Celios 08-12-2004, 03:49 AM That brings up the question, does IG plan to support the game after its release?
Santa 08-12-2004, 04:30 AM Good question. Don't know for sure, but I doubt they'll work.

There's always a need. When hopefully 50k people play, you'll see the exploits :)
i'm pretty sure it depends on what is changed during the patch.
aka, if netcode is changed, then for sure demos wont work
Amadeus 08-12-2004, 04:36 AM Any way to convert them, maybe? Or make a separate program that recognizes which version of T:V was used to make the recording and play it back accordingly?
SexPistol 08-12-2004, 10:17 AM so really the demos i've recorded are useless since you can't play them back now and you wont be able to play them back later
WinterFreshX 08-12-2004, 10:18 AM so really the demos i've recorded are useless since you can't play them back now and you wont be able to play them back later
And for the correct answer, you get a cookie :roller:
Disciple 08-12-2004, 10:45 AM can't you just have demo's saved into a .ogg movie file? So you can watch it whenever.
KillerONE 08-12-2004, 10:48 AM Ya, just Fraps all your demos, before each patch.
:browsmile
[hAuS] C R A B 08-12-2004, 11:04 AM Demos probably won't work on new patches. But, you always have the option of replacing the .exe to an older version and playing it.
whyhelothar 08-12-2004, 02:52 PM That brings up the question, does IG plan to support the game after its release?
I have same question. Are we going to be seeing patches at least once a month to fix the exploits people make? Or is this gonna be a release and forget thing?
SexPistol 08-12-2004, 03:13 PM can't you just have demo's saved into a .ogg movie file? So you can watch it whenever.
Explain further please?
Phaseshift 08-12-2004, 03:13 PM edit: I should have said IF there's a need for a patch WHICH I doubt there will be...
Does this mean you guys aren't going to support the game after release? That sucks.
Amadeus 08-12-2004, 03:15 PM I doub that T:V won't need a patch. Remember, you just made a new game. Noone knows what exploits/inbalances will arise a week or two after release.
