I worked for a Plumber that has been doin that type of work for well over 40 years...When I started doing plumbing I worked like a dog from 5 am till after dark most times...I showed up for work everyday. I was fortunate to have a bossman that just didnt tell me what to do he would show me and tell why it must be done this way or that way... I paid attention to what he was teaching me...If I had to top out a house to get it ready for inspection thats what I did... When my boss knew I knew enough to work by myself he would say you do this row of houses and I'll be across the street doing that row... I topped out and sweated copper by myself 15 of those 3 bedroom homes that were going up...Not one time did any of my work fail inspection... I take pride in my work... The back hoe I would use was a John Deer...Thing came in hany I would go to the job trailer and load everything I would be needing that day and drive right up to the house and have all my tools and such close...I still have the key to it on my keychain... I had never used one b4 and he saw I wanted to learn how to so during lunch he would cut some 4"PVC about a foot long then toss it on the ground in the dirt and I practiced picking up that foot long PVC for a week of so and got good enough to be able to pick it up with out digging a hole... It aint shit to use the loader on the front of it...Pull the leaver to u and it goes up...Away from u makes it go down... To be honest the only real problem I had with it was the damn seat...It was fucked up and I would practicly have to fight it to turn the seat around when I would use the bucket... I worked my ass off and still found time to be a member of the local Vol Fire Dept... I still talk to my old boss...He says I still have a job with him when I move back to Bama... So when I got back to Texas I used that knowledge to earn money... I charge at least $150.00 just to change out a hot water heater which takes about 45 min or less...I sometimes would change out 5 hotwater heaters a day...U do the math... Also man thanks...I just looked at my Texas Plumbing Card, I have to renew it before the end of this month b4 it expires...In texas u gotta renew once a year...In Bama though it never expires...I know cause I have my Plumbing Card from there as well... Which means I can legally do my work in not just one state but two states... Go ask a plumber what is one of the most important hand tools of the trade...If who u ask is really a Plumber he should tell u a pair of Channel Lock Pliers...
