[Bug] Odd lighting effects on some surfaces

The lighting on some surfaces changes with the direction of the camera. I can't think of any reason for this since the player is not emitting this light on other surfaces.

It happens all the time on Elmerald's 'shiny grey building surfaces' so to reproduce it, just play that map.

Here are my system specs since it is a lighting issue.

AMD Althon CP 2000+
512MB 233Mhz CAS2 DRR RAM
nVidia Geforce Ti 4600

[For Irrational only please =)]

Since this bug is very hard to explain in text I have included a video as well. Please let me know if videos are useful to you guys.

I think what you're seeing there is actually an intended effect, the light reflecting off the metal surface. And light obviously reflects differently depending on your angle relative to the surface, so the light appears to move as you do.

Videos are very useful, but keep 'em short. You can also take screenshots by pressing F9.

It DOES look queer. It's like it's reflecting wrong.

I know, it was from way back when they were first announced. I didn't like the idea very and people over-reacted so I put it in my sig to spite them. Victory, Tycho.

That video was supposed to be for the devs =) My upstream is only 256Kbit but that's not to bad if only one person is downloading it.

That lighting jumped out at me because I have the same problem in my openGL program, it has to do with my surface normals though. As IrritAnt said though, it may be a feature, not a bug. That's actually kinda funny because we here at my workplace joke with our bosses when a bug is pointed out that "it's not a bug, it's a FEATURE".

Stick to the BUG format Op-code (AND anyone else!!). Use the first post in this forum as a guideline.

well i noticed that if you ski backwards on a metal floor, you see little spark=like things on the floor...i assume these are from the 'ski' action.

however on Emerald, i always get that bug where its like the dirt kickup from skiing sticks to you, even in the air. (i assume thats a known bug)
