Halcyon 07-31-2004, 09:27 PM Hey, I am new to Tribes, I just picked up T2 the other day. Man I never played a game thats so hard, but I am definitly going to stick with it. The gameplay is awesome. I decided to get tribes after seeing T:V, the game blew my mind. I am basically trying to see if I should bother learning T2, or should I just wait for T:V because the gameplay will be different. If I should learn T2, I would appreciate it if someone could show me the ropes, I am interested in being a scout or a capper. From what I am told I would enjoy that alot. I play alot of games, but none of them will help me get ready for this game, it is so unique.

Welcome. ;)
GuitarGuy 07-31-2004, 09:31 PM Learning either of the Tribes sieries games can only help you for in T:V. Maybe not physics wise, but knowing what the games are about and the different positions you can play.

In this week's edition of BEHIND THE JETPACK, we'll look at the low years of [insert Triber's name here]; trading sexual favors for discs off the streets.
Ceiling_Fan 07-31-2004, 10:15 PM This place is definitely more of a sado-masochistic abuse society than any sort of suport group. That said, have fun :D
Halcyon 07-31-2004, 10:19 PM hmm warm welcomes and confusing jiberish :D
Pretty much what I expected. Well anyways...anyone willing to show me the ropes, or is it best to learn by yourself.....

Fox McCloud 08-01-2004, 12:04 AM The Demos archive should help to gain a little familiarity (there's also for T1 as well if you download it too).

Yeah, but the T1 community has a lot of "n00bz" to pick on.

First of all:
to pub = play on a public server (if you want to know why this is so important, go find the first few posts of scr8pin)
other than that...
LO, MO, HO = Light, Medium and Heavy Offense respectively
LD, MD, HO = Same with defense, althou MD usually means mine-disc (which means throwing a mine and setting it off with a disc for extra damage).
HoF = Heavy on Flag
standoff = when both flags are taken in a CTF game
to turtle = hiding inside the base with the flag
O sniping = Offensive sniping (forbidden in some servers)
OOB sniping = Out Of Bounds sniping, similar to O sniping
to farm = placing turrets and other deployables in and around the base, usually the only role played in medium armor
