KnightMare 08-01-2004, 01:36 AM The popular situation is a flag in the field around defenders. Your situation presents a solo case. I already said flag discing is great if you're alone, but you have to play the game with people, and most of the time there are going to be other people around.
To continue a tennis analogy, I can train to hit net balls in a certin situation if someone keeps feeding me the same shot, but for those perfect conditions to come up so rarely in a match, it's just not worth the trouble.
my example is hardly a solo endeavor, and once again I returned many flags using this tool during matches mind you.
FishStix 08-01-2004, 01:37 AM although, with grappler having a capability to get the flag when its on field, leaving the flag on the field as a strat will become somewhat obsolete (IMO) because how are you going to stop someone from grappling the flag? they dont have to come very close to grapple it, making mining / disking the area where the flag is dropped won't work so well...

Rifle. Chaingun. Burner. Mortar. The possibilities are still rather impressive.
enDless_Delirium 08-01-2004, 01:45 AM Question:
If you grapple the flag, does it instantly move to your back? or do you tow it along for a bit? Like, could I pass over a dropped flag, grapple it, pull it for like 50 meters (while the grapple was pulling it to me) then release the grapple and have the flag go flying past me?
Or is it just grapple the flag, you have the flag?
Sojourn 08-01-2004, 01:45 AM And this doesnt happen with a shootable flag how?
real nice job using what I said happens on a static flag.
I'm sure it does happen sometimes with a shootable flag. The difference is that you can't simply spam the flag. Surviving someone spamming the flag is not truly a skill. It's mostly based on luck.
And btw - I rarely saw people simply spam the flag in matches with a static flag. It's counter productive.

At the moment, if you grapple the flag once the grapple hits it the flag is immediately moved to your back.

and which team simply spams the shootable flag in matches?

I wasn't saying they do. I didn't play T2. The game is crap.

yet you act as if you know what happens with a shootable flag in matches, real nice.

I do? I can't use speculation? It doesn't matter that I tested the damn game?
Sir Lucius 08-01-2004, 01:54 AM I don't think a jumping flag is fun.
There is at least one other person in this thread who agrees with me.
We could run up some real numbers, but I think my side would win.
In the end, if a lot of people don't think it's fun, then it probably shouldn't be in the game.

If I have to point out how you acted as if you knew even played T2, you have much larger problems.

You mean by saying that the flag would jump around in a cluster situation? Or that grabbing the flag in that situation is very much based on luck? I don't need to have played T2 to know that, KnightMare. I can talk to players who played.. at a much higher level than you, I might add.
Sojourn 08-01-2004, 01:57 AM Seeing as how I experienced it myself first hand well before you probably even touched the game..

retrieving the flag in a cluster situation with any flag is more based on luck then skill, the sad thing is you fail to see that.

as in before all the fixes?

No, I'm pretty sure I'm well aware of that. What you fail to see is that if the flag moves when it's shot it becomes far luckier. Why? Because if 3 or 4 people are shooting the shit out of it, it will be going all over the place.
Sojourn 08-01-2004, 02:02 AM as in before all the fixes?
No, I tried Classic too. Still thought it was crap.

if 3-4 people are shooting at it at the samething it barely goes anyway.Go ahead try it.
