_roxycon 07-31-2004, 01:07 PM The current health bar system is counter-intuitive.
If you're a light that has taken damage, you never realize it until you're almost dead. An example is when you're at 50%, the health bar still shows nearly full health, why is this?
Tycho 07-31-2004, 01:15 PM Jesus is with you until the end...then you're on your own...

I notice it a lot when skiing. I'll take fall damage for no reason, then I'll take some more and it ends up killing me. Meanwhile, there's no visual indication.
Thats just cuz your bad at life :bouncy:
Amadeus 07-31-2004, 03:16 PM Btw put back color changing health bars. Sure, blinking does notify you to some extent, but you know you're in shit for sure when your health bar turns red.
Thrax Panda 07-31-2004, 03:26 PM The current health bar system is counter-intuitive.
If you're a light that has taken damage, you never realize it until you're almost dead. An example is when you're at 50%, the health bar still shows nearly full health, why is this?It shouldn't. If it does that's a bug. At 50% your bar should be at 50%.
clockw0rk 07-31-2004, 03:46 PM Right now even at 1 health your bar is greeeen!
It shouldn't. If it does that's a bug. At 50% your bar should be at 50%.
whatever you dont even PLAY tribes....
.... wait...
i love how it shows the percentage to the left... its sweet, ive wanted to do that for t1 for ages but i suck at life :'(
Thrax Panda 07-31-2004, 03:55 PM Yes Jess. And our MP designer is even more of a noob. :)
JohnnyX 07-31-2004, 04:05 PM I tend to think that the full screen flash was better, with the intensity and duration of the flash being proportional to the percentage of damage taken. The edge flash system might be ok though, if the damage indicator system is tweaked.
CoD has a similar damage indicator, but the red flashes are in the center of the screen, and of course it is limited because it doesn't indicate the height of the player shooting at you, just the direction. That system worked for me, because during certain times I tend to get tunnel vision and not look at the extreme edges of my screen.
_roxycon 07-31-2004, 04:35 PM It shouldn't. If it does that's a bug. At 50% your bar should be at 50%.
It's not a bug. It was coded that way.
Are you saying its still green or the health bar doesnt move?
Thrax Panda 07-31-2004, 04:41 PM It's not a bug. It was coded that way.
ViRGE 07-31-2004, 04:47 PM Are you saying its still green or the health bar doesnt move? No, it moves, but it just changes shades of green. Example (http://media.pc.ign.com/media/497/497075/img_2239900.html). My guess is that Roxy wants it more visible, like in T1/T2 where it went from green to black. The fact that it doesn't go red might be a little disorienting to old Tribes players too.
_roxycon 07-31-2004, 04:54 PM Pretend the health bar has 100 units to max it out.
Light armor has 75 units max-health.
Each unit of my actual armor-health on the health bar should be 1.3 units.
PyroTeknik 07-31-2004, 04:55 PM Unless you have your gamma set to 3949573497503.49 and no contrast, I don't see how you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. No to mention the fact that there's also the percentage displayed right next to it.
clockw0rk 07-31-2004, 04:57 PM sometimes i get overcharged

You can't be serious?
That's not the percentage next to it, that's the actual health units you have left. Lights start at 75 and Heavies start at 190, for example.
_roxycon 07-31-2004, 05:10 PM Okay, forget all that.
The number SHOULD be a percentage. The bar is right, the number is screwing me up. Thank you.
