Strik3r 07-19-2004, 09:51 AM How exactly are you planning on having the inv stations work? Please tell me that I won't have to go into an inv station, pick one of those like 10 (10!?) selections, and then click accept. I have around 20 loadouts for t1...so there needs to be a way of choosing more loadouts. Plus, I think inventory selection should occur before you even enter the station. While I think what you have looks cool/neat, I don't want my teammates admiring the scenery while I could be out fighting/skiing/anything.
And how long does loading up take? And what about if I am low on health, how long does it take to recharge?
People have seen/talked some about the inv stations, but from what I've seen, the loadout has been reverted to pre-script T1, where you entered the station, selected the loadout, and then exited....please, PLEASE remember how this didn't work, and do away w/ it.
Amadeus 07-19-2004, 09:53 AM You can either hit the 'use' key and enter the selection screen, or hit a fav key combo (sort of like the voice chat) and get your fav instantly. There are a good number of favorites available (30?).

(Medium armor, Disc Launcher, Chaingun, Blaster) If you want to change your equipment, you find an inventory station. By stepping on one of the platforms surrounding it, you can either press "Use" to bring up the selection screen, or a key to instantly load a pre-defined loadout. Once in the selection screen, you are presented with three areas of options: armor type, pack, and weapon setup. You simply choose what you would like to use and press "accept changes and exit" to head back into the fray. Weapons which are not valid for your currently selected armor will be unselectable.

From what I've seen, stations will have 2 slots for use instead of one like T1 and T2.

For instance, Shift+Q is the default Light Offense loadout. Shift+A is the default Light Defense. Shift+D the default Heavy Defense. You can easily rename and save new loadouts.
Also, since there is no deployable equipment available at the Inventory station, only armor, weapons, and packs, you will probably have fewer loadouts (although with each weapon being more useful that may not be true).

I agree that it would help a lot to be able to choose a favorite before going into a station, but not for that reason (Thrax already said there's shortcut keys)...
The problem is that I find myself very often using only one loadout for a whole map, so it would make it a lot easier if there was a way to choose your loadout once (like T2) and it will always choose that one when you go into an inv.
If it was T1/T2, I could just make a script to do this, but with the limited scripting of T:V I'm guessing we won't be able to do this...

Do we always have to press the correct key combination for a preset, or does the game remember our last used preset, so that we would simply need to press shift once to change to that?

FishStix 07-20-2004, 03:42 PM uhhh inv. stations in t2 were far better. besides you could choose from 20, idjit, just had to press cntrl nmpd 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10. either way works for me, but i liked the inv stations in t2 for the few months i played it before going back to t1 :\

MonkeyHero 07-21-2004, 12:43 PM The only thing I would change from T2's inventory system is to make the setup screen prettier, which they already did. If it hasn't already been implemented so that you don't have to hit the shortcut each time you're standing there, it should be.

can this be customized? frankly i liked the T2 system.

VaporTrail 07-21-2004, 01:14 PM Actaully, I really only ever had three or four major loadouts... I used the specific equipment selections to change those...
it took a little longer (a few tenths of a second) to change loadouts sometimes, but it worked.
I'll probably be one of the few who have more active loadouts in T:V than in T2...

The T2 invo system was one of the few things I enjoy about it over T1.
But I think the "stand on the pad and hit a key" and it would refit you will work well enough. Best of both worlds, because I bet the T2 invo system was very odd for newbies.
