Glass as permanent sides of buildings?

http://www.tribesvengeance.com/us/screens/screen_10.html , it shows a base, with a transparent side looking out...will this be breakable glass (which almost seems pointless since it would be done w/ 10 seconds into the game), or something super-strong transparent steel?

on second thought, I think it would be cool if it was sorta like a car window, right? a disc would go through it and crack it, chaingun fire would put a bunch of bulletholes and broken glass on the floor, and finally when it all took too much it would break all over the floor in glorious havok physics.

But I don't expect anyone to code that, just my inner gamer talking :)

Planetside has "impermeable glass". It can be a boon for HO or HD, depending on how you look at it, can't shoot through it, but can see through it. Lets you see where the other guy is without having to actually get in the line of fire.

And Triple, what about high angle mortars? Boom, and it's gone? I'd prefer blast resistant glass, that mars when you hit it... carbon scoring, bullet chips, etc.

3. Stop playing Tribes and go play Manhunt.

4. Get wasted by that HD that you kept trying to stab with the glass...

5. Sneak up behind HD in pure Manhunt fashion
6. Hold down X button untill display becomes Red
7. Execute HD with a lethal shard to the neck.

Glass sucks, open windows all the way. It may be the future, but the Tribes have always had a penchant for doing certain things the old-fashioned way, among them open-air bases made of concrete and masonry and crap. Glass is for Imperial sissies. Besides which, I don't like just being able to look at people through glass that I could otherwise shoot if there was a big gaping opening.

Still gay because I want avenues between solid walls with high visibility to either be permeable by one side and not the other, or completely open to fire or passage by both sides. I don't want to watch the battle, I want to either be in it or out of it entirely. Besides which, I don't want people peeking in at me while I'm buying my equipment.

If you notice in his comic, Ben keeps his shades drawn while sitting at the computer... he doesn't want to watch the world go by, he wants to be out of it entirely.
