Glass as permanent sides of buildings?

If you notice in his comic, Ben keeps his shades drawn while sitting at the computer... he doesn't want to watch the world go by, he wants to be out of it entirely.

My window faces my back yard. There's nothing to watch out there except the back of my fence and the tops of my neighbors' heads.

Besides which, if you drew the kinda stuff I draw on a regular basis, would YOU keep your curtains open for the world to see?

The guys inside scream and try to run but the gunship CRASHES through the glass in a firey explosion.

Then his teammates come and fuck shit up.

Maybe it isn't glass, but transparent steel that can resist weapons fire...

I don't care how it works, makes sense to me to have windows in buildings. :shrug:

What would be the point of breakable windows..... map would start and it would be chaingun to the windows as you are walking out.

Also, if the windows were big enough, it would be another entrance you would have to secure.... I am sure the tribes would have figured out a way to create mortar proof windows.

ofn, i created a method called Bin Laden Bombing in T2. You jihaded onto the flag/MPB, It worked very well against well defended bases where you could only do one bombing run before getting taken out. It was a great method for taking out a HoF. More consentration on the flag would allow a capper to come it.

on second thought, I think it would be cool if it was sorta like a car window, right? a disc would go through it and crack it, chaingun fire would put a bunch of bulletholes and broken glass on the floor, and finally when it all took too much it would break all over the floor in glorious havok physics.

Why don't you have it that the parts ot the glasses that are hit several times kind of crack...eventually break and then you can repair it...so lets say you have 1 mortar that explodes at one end of the glass and then a mortar that explodes at an other end. nothing will happen...but you have 2 mortars that explode in one area then the glass will begin to crack..and then you you pummel that cracked area with some...disks...then that area of the glass will shatter..and so forth...

and you can repair it....kind of making it a tactical asset..defend..the flag, gens and huge glass window... protecting the flag...
that could be well used..a flag incased in glass...which would require severe teamwork to break and then have the flag stolen...

mmm...sounds like a cool idea..what do you think?

technically havok engine perfectly supports breakable glass (cf painkiller). So chosing between indestructible transparent steel or breakable glass would be a gameplay issue imo. Mappers should be able to make classical glass if it's not included in out-da-box maps, but it would be for fun 'cuz i don't think it can be interesting in term of gameplay.
