...I made sure to observe everyone's PC performance. I generally observed that anyone with a gf4 ti4200 128mb card or better ran t:V fine. Mr-Lag was sitting next to me and he got poor Frames per second when using a gf4 ti4200 64mb (processor was a p4 2.4)...
I have a ti4200 64 meg, and I need to know if its going to cut it at tribalwars...I don't mind turning down texture detail, I just want to know if it the game is scalable enough *by the time of the closed beta* to run within 64 megs of video memory, thanks.

Unlikely. If your going to upgrade on the cheap get an FX5700 128 or 256 meg.
I have a Ti4200 128 meg thankfully but I expect it to run like ass.
Arcanox 06-08-2004, 01:03 PM It would probably still work. You just need to work on eliminating other apps on your PC that might be hoging pagefiles to improve yer performance. Get the latest drivers and Direct X, and you'd probably be all set.
Don't expect that best detail, but Unreal Tournament does run with 32 megs, 64 or higher is recommended. So I think you should be able to at least play the game.
Rev. Night 06-08-2004, 01:06 PM as long as it works on my 256 mg 9800xt i will be happy.

Ha ha ha...VooDoos are cool. I still use my V3 3500 for my sappy T1 box.
-Striker- 06-08-2004, 07:43 PM I'll peg down the local prices on vid cards, get the beta, try it, if its not runnable I'll make a run to best buy or whatever. Must be ones close to lax.
Arcanox 06-08-2004, 07:48 PM To give ya an idea... I can run UT2K4 /w
Radeon 9200 128 mb's AMD 1.4 gig
1024x768
All settings on highest
With around an average of 40 FPS
It's all about memory management and having the right drivers. I can also run an onslaught map without any problems so I don't think T:V will have a problem either.
Rev. Night 06-08-2004, 08:01 PM i am just more concerned with how much AA/AF i can do :)
SarcaStick 06-08-2004, 08:03 PM i'll just upgrade. no biggie
Santah 06-08-2004, 08:25 PM That quote was from me. The person in question was sitting next to me. He had his graphics set to "low" in 800x600 and it was still awefully chuggy. In order to enjoy the game, I'd deffinatelly recommend upgrading to a 128card.
NeutralX2 06-08-2004, 09:24 PM I would guess it would work. The most common card is what? A geforce 4 MX? So I would expect most games to run on one of them, not sure how well though.

Hmmm thanks.
Carnifex 06-08-2004, 10:50 PM I was also present at the Alpha LAN. I was running T:V in 1024*768 on a Ti4200 perfectly fine with no screen lag once I turned off bump mapping and a few minor things. The game still looked visually awesome, you don't *have* to buy a new card. Another one of the players GD playing under the name of Lord was playing on a MX440 perfectly fine.
There were PLENTY of players at that LAN with a 64mb card running smoothly.
Obviously a new card will be better than an old one, but with some minor fiddling of the options (took me 2 minutes) I was able to play a 30fps game on largely medium detail.
Wufei 06-08-2004, 11:02 PM i think my 5600 ultra 256mb should be able to at least run the game.
Santah 06-09-2004, 06:42 AM 64MB versions work fine.
My experience suggest otherwise, my PC chugged to no end.
From my observations I agree with sulls
From bittah. Carni is the only one that thinks 64mb ran fine :P
Carnifex 06-09-2004, 08:37 AM I know this may be difficult in your case Santah, but if you had actually taken the time to check before opening your mouth, you would of found that I wasn't the only one...
perhaps he is BLiND
RazorJack 06-09-2004, 10:50 AM P4 2.8G

GF4 TI 4600 128
I expect it to run average as it doesnt run that bad on UT2004 with settings cranked and the voice chat going.
However, since I will be casting for WOFN, I have my Integrated onboard audio going as well as my Audigy 2 card. On any Unreal Engine game (America's Army, UT/2003/4, and the list goes on and on....) the game will lock up if the sound appears to over deviate (goes too loud and distorts) the game will crash. I am not exactly sure if it is over deviating, or too many sounds at once. I seemed to have fixed it by lowering my hardware acceleration in the DirectX panel -and- lowering my speaker settings at 2 speakers wo/ EAX from 6.1 surround sound :(
Yes, if I disable my on-board audio, it works great. Every sound card I have bought for the last few years has had some kind of lockup issues especially with Tribes 2.
