the hud looks nice....for a new person. While that is great for getting people who are new to tribes, and yes i realize that these are the people that are important not us few people who have played tribes before, i am just hoping there is a way to make the pictures of the weapons be something simple like what was in t2.

Looks AWESOME.. I hope we can destroy the glass!!!! Not to easily but with a few well placed disk shots!! Also.. In regards to the energy blade, hopefully it will be a hotkey like the targeting laser and not always come up when I roll the mouse thru the weapons. It may be nothing but seems like an easy alternative to perhaps make a check box which says EB is part of load out scroll. Then those who choose could uncheck and access the EB thru an assigned key.

The energy blade is selected (somewhat arbitrarily) by hitting ` at the moment. It is not part of the normal weapon rotation.

Edit: "...at the moment," really means, "...at the last time we were told the energy blade binding...."

is there a green light/glow on the chain gun now?

maybe give the energy blade a 2nd feature e.g if you hold the fire button long enough, it acts like a targeting laser

It has green bits on it. It might have a light. Who knows?

Anybody else notice how amazingly high this guy is flying? And I'm getting the feeling he's going real fast...

1. Looks like part of the skybox to me.

I'm going to be the only person who dislikes the look of the game :(

No offense to the artists, they did a very good job of it, just not my cup of tea.

It's interesting. For a period of time, the goal was ultra-realism. Which of course was out of the question for the Tribes franchise without a new engine. But there wasnt a Tribes engine in developement that would handle that. Other companies were attempting the same thing. Many other companies. In time, these other companies accomplished their goal and we have games like farcry etc etc. Epic did one of those engines as well. An engine that was chosen for the next in the Tribes series - and Tribes gets realism.

The curious thing is that Tribes didnt have this at a time that others did. Now Tribes gets this at a time that others are opting for a different 'look'. A look with a slight 'anime' influence. (Or comic book, or cartoon or - nothing insulting intended, just a sort of ink and paper influence).

I'm impressed with the engine entirely. It's a good choice IMO. It is more or less modern. (Or is related to engines that are - witness the Unreal 3 demo reel). And it will be supported for future releases. (<=== good thing). And it looks good. (It really does you know. :) In fact it looks great). But I get it. The ability to have realism might be more important than actually having it. Artistic choices not limited by the engine are probably the point. At least now, that option exists where it didnt before.

It looks great. At least for now, I like 'looks great'. But you make me wonder what it could look like. :)

... although I must say parts have that realism look while others have a pen and ink look. I'll have to see the game first hand.

I like to see taller grass; rollling hills of wheat field; dark and dense wood forest (very tall trees, lots of foilage e.g fungi, and branches that we can stand on, dark and misty) - maps.

Not multiplayer friendly (as we know it), but i dont care
