cHiPs{n}giBs 06-08-2004, 01:07 AM :soapbox: It seems that there is a lot of smack talk against newbs to the tribes games in these forums. I think that for T:V to be a success people need to become more friendly and helpful to the new players that come here so that even if they enjoy the game they aren't put off by the community. :soapbox:
Sir Lucius 06-08-2004, 01:29 AM I think stupid members should realize that we only haze them so they can do away with thier worthless sensativity and become jaded cynics like the rest of us.
If we get rid of that we might as well just use these boards (http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/gentopic.php?board=36601)
btw, I was just being mean for the irony
ZProtoss 06-08-2004, 01:36 AM Nothing good will come of this thread.

Rev. Night 06-08-2004, 01:41 AM before you know it, a member might start a petition to get the cloak pack into TV.
say, wait a sec.....
KnightMare 06-08-2004, 01:54 AM and making threads like this wont help.
Audiohead 06-08-2004, 01:55 AM Bah. I suck. I can accept it. Get over it.
Sir Lucius 06-08-2004, 02:03 AM I actually don't think there are many member haters in tribes talk. Members usually get yelled at in GD it most commonly happens when they make a new thread.
[meph]DarkDonut 06-08-2004, 03:42 AM or post at all. ever.
The Pope 06-08-2004, 03:45 AM Actually if a member uses common sense they can go a long time before being flamed. Here's my tips on how to be a l337 member like me :P
1) Use search to find out basic questions. Only post a new thread if you can't find the answer with either search or dev tracker.
2) Wait a while without posting to get the idea of what kind of thing is acceptable at TribalWar - it may be different from other forums.
3) Don't get into pointless and stupid arguments if you can avoid it.
Sojourn 06-08-2004, 03:47 AM I agree with Lucius. Most people in TT just want a good game, and if a new player comes in they might give them some crap, but they will help them out. The more people play the game, the better the game will be.
VinFox 06-08-2004, 07:38 AM Life is a series of learning events. Before you can enjoy being suitably comfortable knowing that you can accomplish what ever it is you’re trying to do, you must first learn a few things. Usually during the learning process you might come across a few untimely assholes that will give you allot of shazbot for making a mistake. That’s life. Everyone has to go through it, and if you can hold your head up, and let out a good chuckle at yourself for making that stupid mistake, people will like you a whole lot more.
Arcanox 06-08-2004, 08:22 AM You gotta expect some assholes are going to flame someone new just because they can. Myself personally, I'm going to support them so they don't feel completely rejected.
If anyone does plan on flaming someone, just keep in mind that every little bit pushes someone farther away. Just try to be polite and friendly so that IGA can generate money from word of mouth, so do them a favor and don't flame a newb to the point where they are scarred from the community.
NecroSen 06-08-2004, 08:31 AM I don't really think it's an issue, either for the members or the vets. Personally, I say what I think needs to be said and act as I normally do anywhere else. I'm not watching myself on status: just because someone has been around longer doesn't make them the smarter automatically. Just as in the game we all play here, we simply must prove ourselves each time we act.
I'm just giving my input when I feel I have something to say. If I'm flamed for not posting here until the past few months, that's not my issue. Only seems to me like somebody's looking for an excuse to see themselves nearer the top of a hierarchy that doesn't exist.
I never liked politics.
-crap- 06-08-2004, 09:17 AM As someone said in another thread (heh, it rhymes :D) its the newbs vs n00bs issue.
Theta 06-08-2004, 10:18 AM Maybe if the new members didn't have shitty names with alternate text, we would be nicer to them.

I was under the impression Members could not post in GD...I at least can't. Most boards haze new blood. Fortunately, I've got some credentials.

I think every new year or something members that registered from the previous year get access. Morbid for example is not a vet, but registered in '03.
I don't like that rule :p, but I guess I have to stick with it... just like the 20kb size rule.
Theta 06-08-2004, 12:12 PM You can post in GD after like 6 weeks after registering...or was it 6 months...
cHiPs{n}giBs 06-08-2004, 12:38 PM Thanks for the input guys.
Thaumaturge 06-08-2004, 03:21 PM I only wish I had made the effort to join eons ago. I've been around since 98, and an Admin @ Playspoon.com since early '99, so by all standards I am a Veteran.
