I know its kinda early, but will there be a coherent manual or intuitive editor?

I just found this on the FAQ at Teamwarfare

Q. Will a map editor be built into the game?
A. No, there is a seperate application called TribesEd which is similar to UnrealEd.

Q.What features of TribesEd (the map editor) will be useful in creating
new mods and game types?
[Michael "KineticPoet" Johnston]The editor is the same as UnrealEd with a bunch of bug fixes and enhancements. Game types are data-driven, which means you can create subclasses of game objects, play with their parameters, and then combine them in different ways to create new game types. I have no idea how this power will end up being used.

I know its kinda early, but will there be a coherent manual or intuitive editor?Manual for the editor = no. Intuitive = depends on the person I suppose. There are lots of UT tutorials, and many people in these forums who are already quite good at making UT maps. I believe there is a section over at www.tribesmaps.com (http://www.tribesmaps.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?forumid= 23)

From what I have read you will be able to export your BSP brushes (think worldcraft/hammer) and any meshes you make (think 3dmax/maya) will be able to be re-imported into T:V. Thats pretty much all that matters. Terrains will be different then what you do now in unrealed.

Manual for the editor = no. Intuitive = depends on the person I suppose.

It seems that most games using the unreal engine do things a bit differently like placing items and their properties and since the devs have enhanced and changed things concerning the terrain I hope atleast the differences will be documented in some way. At the very least just a doc outlining a basic map. Who knows, we will have the base maps to use as an example but reverse engineering a map can be hard.

1. Open editor
2. Pray that editor does not crash
3. make sure auto save is on
4. pray editor does not crash

UnrealEd has been known to choke on some things more so for unreal2xmp

great news anyway glad they have that in mind.

BTW, how do boots taste anyway?

I found it really hard to create terrain in the unrealed so i just stuck to making indoor maps with no terrain :D

Weird, I found terrain making was the easiest thing I could do. Making the extra decals, eyecandy inside the base was very frustrating at times. Almost wish there was a library on the net you could download prefabs (a la worldcraft) and click.... I found various premade buildings to use, but nothing really broken down into separate movable pieces.
