So I'm thinking about getting the diamond sword project back on track as we've got some nice models to observe from now. I've compiled them all in this image so I can determine what critical elements define each class and gender. We can then use these elements as a base for the diamond sword armors.

Heavy: Platform feet
Calf armor w/ exposed shins
knee pads on hinge
Heavy thigh plates
Cod piece
Central Breat Armor, shoulders optional
Large gun holder armored forearms
Large Jetpack
Standard sized hard receded into central armor

Medium Male: Fully armored boot to thigh
Exposed below hips, belt optional
Cod piece not optional
Large T-Chest plate with shoulder straps
Large jet pack held by shoulder straps
Bicep arm Plates
Fully armored gauntlets
Thick Helmet

Medium Female: Fully armored boot to thigh
Exposed waist and abdomen
Thick Breast plate with shoulder straps
Large Jet pack
Bicep arm Plates
Fully armored gauntlets
Regualr helmet

Light Male: Armored boots and knees
Exposed thighs and hips
Cod piece and belt optional
Thin breat plate
Large or Small straps
Jet pack as big as your head
Bicep Plates or Forearm Plates
Light wrist armor
Visor/Head protector type helmet

Light Female: Armored boots and knees
Exposed thigh to abs
Light belt
Medium breast plate with medium straps
Jet pack smaller than a bread box
Bicep plates
Wrist plates
Hand gurads
Visor/Head protector type helmet

Feel free to add any input on other things you think are important in defining a base armor.

I can't fucking wait to play this game :o

P.S. The medium Phoenix is damn ugly (too much armor). And why do the female models look so much better? :\ For the lights, it's debatable, but wtf is up with the mediums? All the medium males are butt-ugly compared to the female :(

talk about shitty FOV for that blood eagle heavy. It can only look more or less straight in front of him without moving his body. The imperial heavy has a much better head view.

i think they all look awesome except for the medium male pheonix's legs, they appear all yellow while every other tribes has their main colour and something else as well. add some grey or black and they all rock (purely my opinion which should be taken with a grain of salt)

The male Pheonix medium, the heads of the light Peonix male, and the head of the light Pheonix female need some work IMO. That is all.

So do you need modelers? I reinstalled Rhinoceros on a whim not to long ago to get back into some animation projects I had been working on, and may be able to do some work. What I would really like though, is a unskinned picture of those models. The skins give them detail and depth, and if I tried making one as is it would probably be too detailed to use and not blocky enough, as most of my models are (Because I use NURBS than convert to mesh).
I'm not hot on the 'organic' looking bodies though. I'd be better suited to the armor plating and accessories.

Yes probably. If someone's more talented and dedicated than me then they're welcome to help.

But there are lot of things we need to do first:
[list] Solid Concepts of all the armors
Diamond sword stylization theme[/islt
I'm sure there's other stuff too.

I want to try maybe a gothic look but watered down so it'll blend well with the other armors.

You can idle in #diamondsword for now if you want tho :]

A sort of neo-samurai look might be good for the DS as well.
They were supposed to be sort of fighting zen monks, after all.

I'm not suggesting that it be as elaborate as the pics above, but it might be an interesting infuence on the design. The grey coloration and the "T" shaped helmet slit should stay imo.

It's kinda hard for the DS to fit into the existing armor scheme because the major simple shapes have already been taken. Pheonix = circle, imperial = square, blood eagle = triangle.
So just take it in it's own direction stylistically.

Your list of basic attributes for each armor is really good. I say you start from there and make some simple models that posses those attributes, and then try out different styles on that basic framework.

oh, one thing you forgot.

The heavies seem to tend to have multiple sensor "eyes".
[edit] duh....
