We designed it to be easier to get to the flag than in T2. It's not fully tuned yet (Turrets are nearly worthless for instance) On a completely even field, Defense is harder than offense. The offense's target (the flag) doesn't move, while the defenders have a (semi) intelligent capper actively avoiding them. We (as players) haven't figured out how to set up our defense yet. New weapons (as yet not fully balanced) add to item 3. It is possible to set up a good defense. I did fairly ok in the E3 pub setting when I managed to get 4 turrets, two repair turrets, and me in heavy with a repair pack up on the flag stand on Spiridian. I haven't seen any active light d yet (as in snipers, etc) trying to get people before they get to the flag. We'll see how it goes. It's very easy to give the defense an added advantage. A negative nurf so to speak. Simply making turrets and mines more effective for instance, or increasing the power of the burner. It's much harder to do the same for offense. None of us want the defense that T2 did by any means, that just sucked. I like many others would rather see the O have the advantage. I know it is WAY to early to tell (UVA will help this), but it just seemed most everyone was ending up in Medium armor. What I feel makes Tribes 1/2(++/c) addicting was different armors, which lead to different roles, which lead to wanting to learn more and more and more. This is what created the addiction to me. Master HO, then work on LD or capping, etc... I know it is too soon to tell, and hopefull you have a long open beta. As I know many teams will use this time to organize and you will see lots of scrimamges as well. FreshMeat 06-08-2004, 11:57 AM It's still fast though. Respawning takes the same number of keys (instead of CTRL then K you can press B then 1 to respawn at your first spawn area), KP I actually like that idea better, because in T1 & 2, when you do CTRL-K, you never knew where you were going to end up. Secondly, I don't know about the rest of you, but I just rebinded CTRL-K to the Delete key anyway. It was alot quicker and easier to find. Keep the info coming... |TIA|FreshMeat Annexed 06-08-2004, 01:42 PM Thrax, whenever your European excursion plans are nailed down, give us a shout on E-TP (http://www.euro-tribesplayers.com) and I'm sure we'll come buy you a beer and molest you for T:V stuff ;) | ||
