Having played it twice now. Once when we did the original bittah write up and now, I was greatly impressed by the progress made by the devs. The game was great fun. Just wait til you play it before you go shovelling buckets of sand in your manginas.

Having Ctrl + K respawn you to your first spawn location choice would be a nice sentimental touch.

bind respawn to ctrl and k to area one then...

ah, very nice. I like this system. It is rather Bf194'ish. It is certainly MUCH better then the ramptant crtl-k'ing before a match to get into our preferred spawn positions. shazbot, even during a match too.

VAV sounds better than "SHIFT-F-D-3!!!"..

seriously though I think ^ nailed it when he said its more of a "we change it because we can", because that's kinda what im seeing. Why did you mess with ctrl-k? What was the design concern with that? Did focus testing find vets were messing up noobs by saying "press ctrl-k to get autoaim"?You're right. It's arbitrary things like this that should make you go play counterstrike insted.

You know, when people are always bitching about everything, I can't take any of it seriously.

It doesn't really matter what it is and is definitely not worth arguing about. Whether it be shift, v, q, 9, s, g, or any of the other 108 keys on a keyboard, it doesn't really matter. If you like it as shift, leave it. If you prefer it as V, rebind it. It only takes a second. Move on.

I think the most negative review of T:V was mine, and I still think it was an awesomely fun game. You can pick nits all you like, but at the end of the day more fun games get more players initially, and player numbers in tribes have always been a struggle in AU at least, so this is all good news.

Anybody of the Devs willing to move to Holland and bring a copy... I'd let the rest of Europe play... I really would.... really....

ahh yeah I enjoyed the new system, but just to clarify. Its not a simple mapping change from v to shift. In the new system you have to hold the shift key down the whole time you are selecting one of the about 45 global taunts in the new system. And then the rest of the menu is based around the esdf layout like a numpad so you can hold your pinky down and tap away quickly to get the desired voice bind. however if you dont play with wasd or esdf... but the arrows? It is as they have been saying a complete non issue. This is just a clarrification.

It's not instant suicide anymore. It's "view my command screen and choose a new respawn area if I want to, or press a key to cancel." The current binding for this is (rather arbitrarily) the B key.

It's still fast though. Respawning takes the same number of keys (instead of CTRL then K you can press B then 1 to respawn at your first spawn area),
KP

Might it be possible to make it so that if you press the key that's bound to suicide twice in a row that it'll respawn you where you last spawned?

Not that the reach from b (or k) to the arrow keys is far, but imo having the key have a bit of a shortcut like that might satisfy some of the people that are going to cry about the change.

That's not a bad idea.

How long have you been visiting TW? heh

I do have a question though.

It seems like it is really easy to grab the flag and run. Is this because players have less defensive capabilities, or do people need time to "Learn" how to defend again?
