Of course the game can also be played with grenades, but the punishment for screwing up with a mortar is much better. Plus I don't think the mortar will blow up until it hits the ground or a person, but I could be wrong.
If this is too easy then we can also add more mortars.
ElectroWaffle 06-04-2004, 12:56 PM brilliance, sheer brilliance
when i get T:V, i want someone to skin me a Waffle Buckler, with a lightning bolt in the middle
that would be badass
Krytoss 06-04-2004, 01:01 PM :signed:
Amadeus 06-04-2004, 01:06 PM Throw in some grapplers in the fun too.

Nice pic though:look:
Exit Wound 06-04-2004, 02:40 PM Awesome... So we could get 3 lights to effectively relay mortars all the way from one base to another. :) we could have base to base mortar spam..

Ground delivery service.
i doubt u can buckle-bounce to the enemy base. once the fuse of the mortar has expired it'll explode on contact.
this will be more like hot-potatoe
Theta 06-04-2004, 03:27 PM you'd need a *really* long fuse

The buckler is supposed to deflect projectlies. Does a disc deflect or just explode? I dunnom maybe I missed some info on the thing.
Zaptistas_Blood 06-04-2004, 08:15 PM Hacky sack rocks. I play it all the time.
FishStix 06-04-2004, 10:23 PM woah badass. hacky sack is the shizat
Wendy 06-04-2004, 10:25 PM rofl, hilarious

my statement was refering to the mortar
i believe i read that the buckler will *deflect* projectiles (disc/cg/mortar/nades) as well as energy (blaster/burner/laser) weapons.
now even if you had enough people lined up w/ bucklers to deflect a disc to the enemy base i am sure the maximum value for the distance a disc is to travel will have expired; thus resulting in the disc exploding mid-air. something you tend to see in base-to-base disc shots on *smaller* maps such as DX.
Hellsfury 06-05-2004, 12:50 AM Sir Lucius... I think you're onto something here...
1) A Mortar begins the round by being shot high into the air from a central Turret
2) Players get points for successfully bouncing the Mortar back into the air.
3) Players get bonus points for being the last player to successfully rebound the mortar into the air before it explodes or is unsuccessfully rebounded.
4) Players get bonus points for intentionally failing to rebound the mortar (being the closest and within 3m of ground zero), but also by not being the only one to vaporize in the explosion. Bonus points compound with the number of bystanders atomized. Air-Bursts garner no bonus points for victums, but do garner compounding bonus points for the last player who successfully rebounded the Mortar.
5) Each Mortar has a randomly set internal fuse at the time of launch. The longer the Mortar lives and stays airborne, the bigger the Jackpot grows before being awarded to a player who qualifies for points.
Thaumaturge 06-05-2004, 01:04 AM any group that pulls this off without being able to see your partners is certainly a master of strange voodoo ju ju.
VinFox 06-05-2004, 07:30 AM Ladies and gentlemen I think we have a new game type "Hot Potato!"
Archaic 06-05-2004, 07:37 AM If you ever turn the gravity off or to such a low level in Tribes1 and shoot a mortar is just slowly rotates in the air for like 20 seconds then detonates. I think T:V will be similar to that.
About the disc launcher/buckler, I don't believe it reflects discs, but I believe it does reflect mortars, and grenades (from GL).
Keep in mind for those looking to employ the buckler in the actual game, that the buckler is using 1/3 of your weapons up, and I'm pretty sure everyone will still have the disc launcher, so if you 're palying HO you'll have only the DL, buckler, and mortar. Be wise about what you choose in your setup.

Except buckler is medium only.
