[T:V] Grappling gametype?

I was just thinking how Q3 has trick jumping, maybe T:V has potential for a trick grappling gametype (community-made probably). Maybe even disable jetpacks and create some maps with obstacles and such. I remember with T1 sometimes I'd just go into a server and ski.. not sure why, but I always enjoyed it. I think something similar will end up happening with the grappling hook, get in a server and just grapple for shits and giggles...

Just a thought... was it already discussed by chance?

I just hope IG ship TV with 3 or 4 basic gametypes.....the rest will be certainly developed by the community.

And a Grappling Hook based gametypes does sound fun.

You don't really need a separate gametype. You could always just build a map that has no terrain. It would just have floating bases and stuff to grapple on.

but yeah, at the very least it should be possible to make a mutator for grapple only gameplay. just need to make sure you design maps that are good enough to be used with it.

Gotta have jetpacks. From what I've heard, the hook doesn't pull you enough to actually propel you anywhere. It's mainly just used for changing trajectory after already moving.

Sounds cool if executed properly though.

Hm, well I was thinking of using gravity and jump pads instead of the jetpack; but if there's a possibility of making a slightly complex scoring system where you recieve more points the less you use your jetpack, that would work fine..

As for making it a seperate gametype, I'm only suggesting that the scoring system be different from ctf/area/ball/fuel. This way it would be even more interesting combining say CTF+Grappling, so you score points for some sick moves while trying to cap the flag. (maybe a race, who can cap the quickest or something)

Same could work with Fuel+Grappling.. who knows, I just can't wait to get my hands on that damn hook. :hungry:

I would combine this idea with Hunters and remove weapons so if a player falls, his flags would be returned to "flag stands".

Nice idea about falling to the ground.....it rings a bell...

I definetly forsee a map with no ground/lava or something as terrain, and you have to grapple on platforms to get to the enemy bases, that would be awesome :)

thats the exact thing i thought when i saw the grappling hook: how many things the community will make to utilize the physics of the GH. i think it would be a fun lil feature, maybe even a built in training with it.
