Exit Wound 05-18-2004, 05:32 PM Also, entering buildings and turtling are really not one in the same. Running in to Inv up when your base has been attacked is a nice alternative. Also many times while making a mad dash for home with two chasers on my A$$ I will aim for the entrance for a little safty and my team to put up some D. Then emerge and stay outside. I don't think the stratagy should be taken away, the more you limit where the player can go etc you start taking away many many options and stratagies.
Killerone your so..umm :closet: FUNNY ya Funny :roller: :roller: :roller: :roller:
Theta 05-18-2004, 05:52 PM I don't like artificial returns for match play. In a pub situation, yeah sure, have an automatic flag timer if a team has the flag and doesn't cap for like 5-10 minutes. The setting could of course be changed by the server admin.
Mooley 05-18-2004, 05:56 PM This feature is in t2 classic but I have never seen it work and I've seen some long standoffs so what gives?
Tycho 05-18-2004, 06:09 PM knowing where the flag was was never a problem. it was simple to find in t1 even simpler in t2.
dont have huge bases with only 1 or 2 entrances and turtling wont be a problem. stalemates i can live with cause those end.
That's exactly what I said, I'm not sure if you were just agreeing with me or what...

o, i think i misread what u said heh
Thrax Panda 05-19-2004, 03:07 AM The other thing that was pissing of the TW guys during the standoffs was the fact that you could pick up enemy deployables in the E3 build. So every time I came into their base I'd pick up a turret and plop it down. At one point I got three turrets up in their generator room and a couple more in the rest of the base. There were many "WTF!"s popping up. :)
You won't be able to do that from here on out, as it was really annoying to have your turrets used against you.

You'll get yours. Oh yes, you'll get yours.
Thrax Panda 05-19-2004, 03:43 AM That's why I like smurfing. I don't want everybody lining up to own Thrax. :(
Flatscan 05-19-2004, 12:08 PM Thrax you could pick up enemy turrets in T1. I don't think that needs to be changed.
No biggie either way
Theta 05-19-2004, 12:26 PM Undeployed enemy turrets weren't out in the open in T1, unless someone used a spam script.

If someone's carrying a turret (or any other deployable) and dies, can someone from the opposing team pick it up and deploy it? If so, I assume having it deployed will prevent it from respawning at its original station, thus leaving the enemy with one less deployable of its type. At least as long as the deployable itself isn't destroyed.
It would be kind of interesting to steal or dispose of deployables this way. (Dispose, as in deploying the deployable somewhere where it won't be found)

No biggie either wayYes, but you had to find one that had been dropped. in T:V They're just sitting on their spawn station waiting to be picked up, which is what I was doing. Now, when they're still on their spawn station, they'll be locked to their own team.
WinterFreshX 05-19-2004, 08:50 PM Lol I see that Thrax is just like any other gamer who will use everything to his advantage even if it's a bug, glitch or in this case dev knowledge abuse.
Rock on Thrax, show these TW guys how to play the game.

fixed
Thrax Panda 05-19-2004, 11:17 PM Sigh. Everybody forgets that I played on Cows and Reck. :(
FishStix 05-19-2004, 11:25 PM any map with a big enough base has the potential of turtling... or even if its not big, any one with a base containing only one hole has the possibility aswell. /me votes for the idea having a (MAYBE TOGGLABLE SERVER TO SERVER) forcefield that doesn't let the flag thru in bases
