What they should do is release a little public demo client with physics sliders for jets, gravity, mass, and gorund friction, and then just let everybody in the world mess with them. Then everyone could suggest specific numbers. I wonder if we'll be able to write mutators during beta, b/c something like this would probably be very useful.

This is true, again why we have to wait for BETA. ;)

But again increasing mass does give you more INERTIA which is very important and is not very pronounced from what i've read about T:V. I'm not saying increase the mass a lot, maybe just a little increase in mass and just a bit stronger gravity... You'll still have that fast low end acceleration if the thrusters are tweaked right (especially the lateral thrusters) and it will eliminate the floatyness. But just leaving the physics the way they are right now with the power of the thrusters depending on how much energy you have desn't seem like it would elminate the floatyness. Again I don't have any idea how it actually play seeing as I never touched the game yet and you have. I'll reserve further speculation untill beta. ;)

No.

I'm going to bed, good night.

Yay, physics thread! :D

One thing occured to me while reading the thread: what happens when you run out of energy but keep holding down the mouse button? Does it make short full-force bursts like T1 or does it give you a weaker, but still continuous thrust?

I was thinking that a good fix for the floaty would be the higher you jet up the higher gravity becomes.. This keeps horizontal maneuverability high when people stay close to the ground and fast paced for people who like to fly high...

It would prolly mess up your perfect arch pretty bad though…

Not only that, but it has no relation to real life physics at all (which T:V is trying to follow pretty closely).

Also, how would 'high' be defined? If it's a given height than people in a valley will have an advantage over those on a hilltop. If it's height measured from the terrain in the given spot, then you'll have serious problems with jetting over a few medium sized bumps or even one large hill.

Good call..

but I dont think there trying to follow real life physics unless there basing the gravity from the moon..

You know, I'm not going to say anything to that.
