Anyone hear about this rumor? Johnny Damon & BY Kim going to Seattle, Freddy Garcia going to K.C. & Carlos Beltran going to Boston.
I heard it on the radio yesterday (as a possible deal being talked about) but haven't seen or heard anything else about it. Sounds like a sweet deal for the Sox if this goes down. Not sure who they would put at the lead-off spot though if this happens.
Why the hell would the Royals give a guy like Beltran away for Garcia?
Krakbaby 05-15-2004, 01:05 PM freddy for beltran
LOL
why the fuck would boston give up damon for beltran?

Terra 05-15-2004, 01:07 PM Lol
Killarmy 05-15-2004, 01:08 PM wow mw's an idiot
beltran's going to be the most coveted free agent this coming off season, he's a 5 tool player, and that is rare
The guy is a future 3-time MVP at least. If KC ends up getting FREDDY GARCIA come trade deadline for him, I'll shoot myself in the fucking face.
Terra 05-15-2004, 01:11 PM if i was KC, i'd take Beltran for Ichiro/Boone tho :D
Krakbaby 05-15-2004, 01:14 PM actually freddy for beltran wouldnt be too unrealistic
everyone knows beltran will be available and the type of player he is (except maybe mw uno)
kc is going to get fucked either way by either losing him to free agency or not getting full value for him(freddy)
Diablo Escobar 05-15-2004, 01:27 PM its a crock of shit
red sox would have to be criminally charged for theft if they pulled that off
Vanguard 05-15-2004, 01:55 PM Beltran is not going to stay in KC after this season, He knows this, the Royals know this, MLB knows this. They will try to trade him during the season so they can get SOMETHING out of him, before his contract is up
TheHaunted 05-15-2004, 01:59 PM No Not Kim!!!
Why the hell would the Royals give a guy like Beltran away for Garcia?
As stated below by others, Beltran will be a FA at the end of the year and when the Royals feel they are out of the race (which they already are) they know that they can't sign him so they will try to get what they can for him rather than just losing him for nothing. In that perspective it makes sense, a lot of sense.
I guess know one else has heard this rumor? I heard it on ESPN radio yesterday afternoon that the teams are talking, we'll see.

I hope they get away with this theft. I like Damon, but Beltran is better and they unload a very expensive minor league pitcher.
what kind of a curse would team get for trading Jesus anyway?
.Keyser Soze 05-15-2004, 02:09 PM Boston would more then likely have to throw in some of their top prospects as well to pull this off, but I've heard they're really hesitant about dealing them away (especially their successor to Varitek who's name escapes me right now). But to get a guy like Beltran they should just say fuck it and go for it (which they probably would) because as stated before he's a 5 tool player.

No they wouldn't nor shouldn't have to trade away prospects as well as Damon and Kim. It's not a straight up deal for Beltran. KC gets a front line pitcher in Garcia whom they can currently afford for losing Beltran otherwise they will lose Beltran for nothing.
aScotiA 05-15-2004, 02:25 PM I would love love love that trade.
aScotiA 05-15-2004, 02:29 PM In addition, BK KIM should just go back to Japan. Fucker sucks nuts and I can't see how anyone would want him. His stint on the DL has taken 5mph or so off his fastball, and is causing many of his pitches to hang over the plate instead of break like they used to wehn he was playing a little better.

Almost every deal in the MLB that involves the trading of big name players also involves the trading of prospects. To think KC just gets Freddy Garcia and not even ONE prospect for Beltran is kinda crazy.
