Rename the Speed Pack and the Repairerkesh 05-07-2004, 07:28 AM Stim pack / DART Da_Timsta 05-07-2004, 07:43 AM another vote for Stim Pack. And put in the sound from SC when you activate it :D GIMPbeowulf 05-07-2004, 09:27 AM another vote for Stim Pack. And put in the sound from SC when you activate it :D tttssssssss... aw yeah that's the stuff! VaporTrail 05-07-2004, 12:48 PM Problem with "stim pack" is that it's got the same abbreviation as "speed pack". Isn't that the main reason for changing it in the first place? Besides, I think the Devs would want to stay away from any kind of drug reference... especially the blatant ones like "crack pack". Kinetic Pack Repair Spike nazbot 05-07-2004, 01:25 PM Seriously, speed pack is the best of the lot. The logic can even be that it injects you with speed and that's why you go faster. Plasmatic 05-07-2004, 10:47 PM See above your post..... ^^^^^^ kesh 05-07-2004, 10:56 PM Problem with "stim pack" is that it's got the same abbreviation as "speed pack". Kinetic Pack Repair Spike Kinetic Pack doesn't describe much: ki·net·ic ( P ) Pronunciation Key (k-ntk, k-) adj. Of, relating to, or produced by motion. So basically, you're equipping yourself with something that relates to or produces motion. That is not what the speed pack does, therefore, the name is useless. Shield pack provides a shield, energy pack, energy so on and so forth. The stim pack, while *might* have a negative connotation truly defines its purpose: stim·u·late ( P ) Pronunciation Key (stmy-lt) v. stim·u·lat·ed, stim·u·lat·ing, stim·u·lates v. tr. To increase temporarily the activity of (a body organ or part). Thus, the name proves to be more 'useful' as its purpose outweighs the silly 'omg a stimulant is a drug omgogmgomgomggmo' attitude. Sopo 05-07-2004, 11:01 PM ahh, thats the stuff! anywy my vote goes to D.A.R.T./S.T.I.M. S.T.I.M. stands for Stimulating Trunk Integrated Manipulator fine, if you dont want me to have a sig ill link to it :) Mr_Unlucky 05-08-2004, 12:12 AM Adrenaline because it sounds like something useful, whether or not it will be IG. Shield Pack sounds useful out of contex. Energy Pack sounds useful out of contex. Speed Pack sounds confusing out of contex. What exactly does it "Speed"? Repair Pack sounds useful out of contex. Adrenaline would also work with the little graphic of three green vials they have for the pack. At least I think that's the Speed pack graphic :| Zoolooman 05-08-2004, 12:37 AM Quick Pack makes the most sense. Mangle-Me-Elmo 05-08-2004, 12:04 PM c-c-c-c-rackpack Mooley 05-08-2004, 12:21 PM How about the "SemiAuto" pack :p Ben Reed 05-08-2004, 01:24 PM Adrenaline Pack and Repair Pack sound the best to me. Darmach 05-08-2004, 02:31 PM Here are some name suggestions for the speed pack: Overdrive Pack - Makes the body function at its limit. Time Pack - Injects a drug that makes the user's perception of time slower. Hyper Pack Stress Pack And then some suggestions for the repair turret: Shaman - Maybe a bit too cliché. Repair Sprinkler - Its function is obvious from the name. Plasmatic 05-08-2004, 02:45 PM Adrenaline Pack and Repair Pack sound the best to me.Another repair pack? I thought we were talking about the repair turret? Fast pack. Repair Spike. Simple, elegant, acronym friendly. :roller: I-C-E 05-08-2004, 02:55 PM Velocity Pack I like DART, as well. arcadus 05-08-2004, 03:02 PM as i posted before: haste pack repair turret i have also taken a liking to adrenaline pack pyrot3chnic 05-08-2004, 05:25 PM surge ( P ) Pronunciation Key (sûrj) v. surged, surg·ing, surg·es v. intr. To increase suddenly: As favorable reviews came out, interest in the software surged. To improve one's performance suddenly, especially in bettering one's standing in a competition. acronym doesn't change, but o well... still like that one the best; even though I really don't see what's wrong with "speed pack." Cedar 05-08-2004, 05:47 PM Wait wait wait I got it The speed pack should be called "The Pulse Sensor" FUBAR|Ascain 05-08-2004, 06:55 PM If the reasoning was that SP (shield pack) conflicted with SP (speed pack) you could think out of the box and rename the shield pack to something else as well. As first poster on this new bandwagon, I propose defensive pack and cardboard shell. | ||
