this really reminds me of how they "renamed" all the armors in T2.
e.g.

heavy - juggernaut
medium - assault
light - scout

(or whatever) see, with they new names they were more dynamic and exciting.

only morons called them by the new names.
No one called them by thier old names either...
Anyone remember the Hoplite? Peltast? Myrmidon?

Johnny X']Gonna repost in TT so everyone can see and support me (except special):

For the repair turret how about?

DART - Deployable Automated Repair Turret

1. It adequately describes the function of the deployable.
2. Everything in military operations are abbreviations and acronyms.
3. It's easy to say and hear on Ts2/Vent: "Go deploy some Darts by the HoF"

"Dart the gens" or "Dart our Flag area" would also probably be easy to say.
this is win

Special said that he like the term "Renewer" cause it was more descriptive of the role it plays, I could see that.

But I think something short and sweet would be appropriate. Even if DART is not it.

Spiderclamps are referred to as "clamps" in T2, and Landspikes are still called landspikes. Concussion Grenades got abbreviated "Concs".

Yet I got some flak for wanting the original name to be simple enough to stick around from beginning to years into the game. :shrug:

Some suggestions I made in the other thread;

I personally don't like the longer names suggested as a replacement for the Speed Pack. It just doesn't fit in with the other pack names which are rather short and simple; Energy, Repair, Shield.

I don't think the Speed Pack is necessarily a bad name, but here are some other suggestions I thought of; the Swift Pack, the Boost Pack, or the Rush Pack.

Oh and some suggestions for the new "Repair Turret";
the Mend Turret (or the Mender), the Redress Turret (or the Redresser), and my favorite, the Salve Turret.

I personally don't like the word "node" attached to the Repair Turret, because "node" implies a connection with other nodes, as if to make a string or lattice.

If you wish to replace the "Turret" part of Repair Turret with something, how about "Battery?" (although, it may be confused with a dry cell)

Some more simple names; the Assist Turret or the Support Turret, although I still like my previous suggestion of the Mend(er) Turret.

Every time I hear Attack Pack this is what I think of.

DART sounds cool for the repair turret.

renaming them wont do any good because people will just call them by what they do, not by some crazy ass names that are in the manual :|

regardless, my ideas:
"haste pack" (as mentioned by someone else in the thread)
"repair turret"

Kinetic pack sounds terrible. Might as well call the shield pack a protective pack or something.

Turbo pack doesn't conflict with the other abbreviations and doesn't sounds stupid like 'speed pack'

Repair turret sounds fine, but in the other thread someone mentioned 'repair spike' once we see what it looks like. We might end up calling them spikes. Sounds nice.
