News: T:V Pack RoundupCedar 04-28-2004, 02:22 AM wow.. I like quick pack so much that I've already started thinking of it as "The Quick Pack" Wulfen 04-28-2004, 02:51 AM IMO, if T:V is supposed to be a fast-paced, action-oriented game, you should not be using an ammo pack. In other words, if you value action, you'll want to see the inclusion of something that makes gameplay more fast-paced, rather than one which promotes slower-paced, (much) more strategic play. I dunno, I see a couple of the vehicles doing exactly the latter. Exit Wound 04-28-2004, 02:59 AM I really like Velocity Pack for the speed pack and Repair Spike for the deployable. Speed pack is good to and I know people feel like velocity pack may be confused with energy pack. :) But everything related to speed seems to point to the energy pack. Thus I like Velocity Pack! :blueblob: Wulfen 04-28-2004, 03:00 AM After reading some of the explanations to the new packs and all the new stuff that will be in, I have to wonder about something: This doesn't sound very intuitive at all. Passive effects, active effects, nano-burst times, recharge times, recycle times, speed changes, weapon firing delay times. How will their target audience get all this, when they couldn't understand the much simpler Tribes, where you just pressed a key to heal or start up a pack? Is there going to be some sort of countdown timer for the packs, so they know how long they have? In Tribes, there was a nice graphical account of your energy and how the pack was using it. How is this going to be any less confusing? Maybe there's a HUD representation of all this stuff, just curious. Zoolooman 04-28-2004, 03:06 AM fudge THAT ARGUMENT WULFEN. I'm fudgeing tired of it. God, if you want to fudgeing hold them hard and fast to a rule of only including blindingly fudgeing intuitive mechanics, then why don't they cut everything interesting out of T:V. fudge THAT shazbot. T:V finally gets interesting, and instead of saying, "Wow, that's got nuances to it," you're whining about the fudgeing removal of a dinky little piece of shazbot mechanic. Anyways, the T:V packs are intuitive. Let's look at how the packs work: Hit a pack key. The pack recharges on the HUD, just like the weapons recharge as they reload. Then you hit the pack key again. SOUNDS fudgeING INTUITIVE. Wulfen 04-28-2004, 03:09 AM fudge THAT ARGUMENT WULFEN. I'm fudgeing tired of it. Back up, re-read my post, and fudgeing realize that I don't know how they are going to go about making all these times and recycle times and such, known on the HUD. bartkusa 04-28-2004, 03:09 AM mmmmm shazbot fudge Zoolooman 04-28-2004, 03:11 AM You're right Wulfen. I apologize for being a jerk. I think I'm on edge this morning. bartkusa 04-28-2004, 03:14 AM Holy shazbot dude, I was asking a fudgeing question, not giving them the third degree. Back up, re-read my post, and fudgeing realize that I don't know how they are going to go about making all these times and recycle times and such, known on the HUD. You have a weapon icon that's detailed and textured-like. When you shoot it, it goes white, but as time passes, one edge of the whiteness moves and the normal colored icon is visible. When the whole weapon icon is colored you can shoot again. It's basically a bar graph laid over the weapon. *fire* |--------------| |-------| || *fire* You will have a health, suit energy, and a pack energy bar to look at as well. Wulfen 04-28-2004, 03:21 AM Ok, gotcha. I don't think I've seen an actual pic of the HUD as it's going to be, so I wasn't sure how they were going about it. And no probs Zoo. }x{ Dragon 04-28-2004, 03:23 AM  Stimpej 04-28-2004, 03:23 AM Speed Pack = Adrenal Pack fant- 04-28-2004, 03:31 AM What the fudge are you all jerking about Kinetic Pack is clearly the winner here :D ZOD 04-28-2004, 03:58 AM Nitro Pack Medi Bot Hellsfury 04-28-2004, 04:09 AM Heh, Zooloo... someone stick your pin in the wrong doll this morning? ;) . Mooley 04-28-2004, 04:22 AM Geezus Zooloo, take your meds. Mooley 04-28-2004, 04:23 AM Nitro Pack Medi Bot Nitro pack did come to mind Amadeus 04-28-2004, 07:46 AM didn't read past KP's excellent post on page 10 so far, so I don't know if anyone used this opportunity yet: There's a new deployable I haven't seen mentioned yet. Maybe you can help give it a better name. Currently we just call it the repairer. It's like the inverse of a turret. It gradually repairs friendly objects and players in its radius, and this effect stacks with the repair pack. It also slowly repairs itself. I'll leave it to you guys to think of the various ways this could be used. How 'bout MedBot? Really, it's just something that popped into my mind and has no significance at all, but still... sounds better than repairer. :) Amadeus 04-28-2004, 08:18 AM Omg Zooloo, you gave the bad word filter a hell of a run there! Anyway, I just thought about how all this stuff allows people to set up turrets and MedBots all over the enemy base and then taunt "All your base are belong to us!" on them. poisonspider 04-28-2004, 08:28 AM bolt action cg? thats what i was wundering maybe they dont have an explanation eitherway it sounds fun to use.. edit: oops copied wrong quote | ||
