I personally don't like the longer names suggested as a replacement for the Speed Pack. It just doesn't fit in with the other pack names which are rather short and simple; Energy, Repair, Shield.

I don't think the Speed Pack is necessarily a bad name, but here are some other suggestions I thought of; the Swift Pack, the Boost Pack, or the Rush Pack.

The speed pack passive effect makes you run faster. The speed pack active effect makes you run even faster. This is not just useful for running around indoors. It's useful when fighting outdoors because you can dodge around on the ground quite effectively, making it more difficult for people to hit you.

We were considering a better name for the speed pack. "Action" pack isn't so bad. Any other ideas?
Sprint pack?
Kinda makes sense for your description anyway.
You cannot start and stop a pack's charge arbitrarily. We've had a lot of discussions about this. Personally I enjoy the skill it takes to turn a pack on and off. Others do not like this ability, and I can appreciate why. So that's the way it is for now. That's too bad, although I can certainly understand how it could make some of the packs extremely powerful... espeically for the shield pack if its energy is drained only by time--not damage. The way thrax explained it that it's to ballance the change that it no longer takes from armor energy doesn't really make sense... sounds like ballancing the removal of one skill by removing another?
Currently the speed pack doesn't help you much with the Buckler. We've considered what Rigel suggested in this thread, namely making the speed pack also affect the fuse times and/or speed and/or gravity of projectiles. The speed pack is a big unknown. It'll require lots of tuning.

You can currently switch weapons while the Buckler is in the air, allowing for some nice combos. No guarantee it'll remain this way, but so far there's been no reason to remove this ability.Speed pack might not help with buckler but it would help with whatever weapon you use while it's away. Either way, probably wouldn't be a good idea to change the speed it travels--that sort of thing would really mess with people's aim.
There's a new deployable I haven't seen mentioned yet. Maybe you can help give it a better name. Currently we just call it the repairer. It's like the inverse of a turret. It gradually repairs friendly objects and players in its radius, and this effect stacks with the repair pack. It also slowly repairs itself. I'll leave it to you guys to think of the various ways this could be used.
Charger maybe?

Repair turrets eh? I wonder how they'd work to-and-from caproutes ;) Release this thing already, dammit.

Especially if deployables don't limit your mobility . . . (just a matter of time to pick one up at where they appear).

You could have each MO capper take an epack and a lovebuster. Set up a little repair orgy on the way in.

Oh and some suggestions for the new "Repair Turret";
the Mend Turret (or the Mender), the Redress Turret (or the Redresser), and my favorite, the Salve Turret.

So can Lovebusters be put on walls and ceilings?

If you want all this *stuff* in one map, you're gonna need a pretty big base. :| You'll need at least 1 pad for each vehicle (more if you want more than 1 vehicle each), repair pack stations, at least 1 pad for the basic turret (more if you want more of those), at least 1 pad for the repair turret (more if you want more of those), then you include your inventory station, and repair station. :o

edit: forgot the player controlled turrets :|

In all seriousness, I think "mender" is the best name yet. Simple and everybody will know what it is.

Renewer is just as good as Mender.

Anyways, I still vote for Quick Pack.

so a buckler/disc type combo is what one of the devs (possibly KP) was talking about when they said there was a feature that could be like a mine diss?

Renewer sounds better than Mender. Has anybody mentioned Fast Pack? I like Speed pack still, too.

Hey Thrax or KineticPoet, sorry to divert your attention, but could you possibly answer some of the questions here (http://www.tribalwar.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6205285# 6205285) about the Buckler? Thanks :)

Adrenaline doesn't make weapons reload faster.

Haste Pack is highly descriptive.

As is Quick Pack.

As is Speed Pack.
Adrenline = you move faster = your hand moves faster when reloading a weapon.

Weapons have always been limited by their mechanical rate. How would a chaingun, for example, speed up? It's a rotating barrel..

I'm amazed nobody has reccomended calling it the Quick Pack.

That way every pack has its own two letter pack name.

EP, RP, SP, QP

If you called it the "Kinetic Pack" you'd have KP! How do you feel about that, KP? :roller:
