k thx, misinterpetation from my end then :)Obviously this must have been your fault, as my descriptions over IRC to Colosus at 1:00 in the morning are completely beyond question. Just check out how many times KP didn't have to correct me.

I like the name "Boost pack". So wait a minute, the speed pack's active function doesn't make you shoot faster, but instead makes you run even faster?

Ok, I understand the repair pack now, very interesting.

For the repair turret, how about calling it a "support turret"?

You know how I stand on the grappler issue "being able to use a weapon while grappled", but I think the buckler combo is awesome.

I think the speed pack has huge potential.

i remember playing an old version (the only good version) of shifter. it was balanced but unstable.

anyways, I would run around as a chemilion armor with a boomstick(shotgun)
The chemilion was fast.....and the boomstick rate of fire was fast.......

sounds like ill be able to be the chemilion again :D

We were considering a better name for the speed pack. "Action" pack isn't so bad. Any other ideas?
How about Fast Attack Pack,.

I like how Thrax was describing the repair back before where it was infecting things as you run around the base :(.

EDIT: for Fast pack or quick pack or qix pack

Just leave it speed pack. Thats what people will start calling it anyways.

There's a new deployable I haven't seen mentioned yet. Maybe you can help give it a better name. Currently we just call it the repairer. It's like the inverse of a turret. It gradually repairs friendly objects and players in its radius, and this effect stacks with the repair pack. It also slowly repairs itself. I'll leave it to you guys to think of the various ways this could be used.

Boost pack isnt bad except that will get confused with the energy pack.

Speed pack seems fine to me. I don't see what else would fit in it's place, it gives you speed...

There's been alot of talk about "pack energy". I think this is misleading and confusing. Packs don't have energy, they have a timer. Every time you use the active function the timer starts. You can't use the active function again until the timer is done counting.

From the new pack interview the timers are (in seconds):
Repair:18
Energy:15
Shield:8
Speed:6
Are you a dev member? No.

I never said anything about pack energy, even though the devs have stated on more than one occasion that the pack's energy is seperate from armor energy. I also understand the packs have different rates of drain from the pack energy that equates to a certain amount of time. Like in T2 if I turn on the cloak pack it's only going to last for X amount of seconds before it runs out.

I think Thrax has stated the packs have to be fully discharged before they begin recharging but it doesn't address pausing the "timer" as you put it. Such a "one shot" behavior on the repair pack limits the usefulness to the amount of distance you can cover before the "timer" runs out. Since the active effect of the repair pack is only used on other objects or players that behavior would be contrary to the active effect of every other pack.

Being able to pause the "timer" would give the player the ability to selectively dole out the nanorgs to particular items. I'd rather see an active effect like the packs in T2, where the energy drain can be stopped and the pack begins recharging when not active. At the very least for the repair pack.

The chaingun was originally intended to overheat slower if you travel faster, the idea being that wind passing over the heatsink cools it down. We haven't implemented that yet. We're currently reconsidering how overheating will work.
Will the chaingun fire underwater, and if so, does it overheat or does the water act as a heat sink?

It never made sense in T2 that the environment didn't effect weapons behavior. For example I don't think missiles should lock on Firestorm since there is lava and (one would assume) a LOT of heat.

The enviroment affecting weapons would get too comlicated for the dev team to design and for the gamer itself. I dont want to have to stop and think about the terrain other than for skiing/hiding/dodging.

Lou! Buddy! I would never insult you by trying to answer your question because I am NOT a dev member.

Your question just inspired me to thinking that pack energy was confusing and perhaps it should just be replaced with a timer.

The speed pack should be called the TOTALLY SWEET pack. Because, it's totally sweet.

Boost is good too, if you want to go with the lesser choice.

Come on, how difficult would that be? You like Tetris, yes?

Boost pack could get confused with the Energy pack's boost function though.

Stim Pack all the way, anybody who's played Starcraft would immediately identify with it. :D
