does the disk in T:V fire closer T1's or T2's?

It changed speeds (visual speeds, not necessarily actual speeds) between videos of the press conference and videos of the Games Developer's Conference.

I assume that means the final speed may vary, even as we speak.

I should of been more specific sorry.in T2 the disk inherits the player's momentum unlike T1 right?

Oh... I don't know. I know both discs inherent some velocity, but I don't know how much each disc inherits (the two games feel different, but not too different).

uh... have you ever played tribes 1?

yes and the disk fires differently and its easier to MA IMO.

Most people agree that it is easier to MA in t2 than in t1. The disk flies much faster, so you don't have to lead as much.

I went back from T2 to T1 around a year and a half ago and couldn't MA worth anything for a long time. I gave T2 classic another try a month ago and found myself getting MORE MA's than normal in T1.

So far the T:V disk looks similar to T1 in speed, perhaps even a little slower.

first time ever playing T1 and I hit atleast 5 decent MAs in a few mins which my n00bself doesnt do in t2.

I too feel that it is easier to MA in T2 than T1 (at least it was the last time I played, which was a while ago).

Every single projectile in T1 at least partially inherits its source's velocity.

To answer your question though, I don't think the dev have said anything specifically on this particular subject, but they have talked a lot about having somewhat realistic physics (including conservation of momentum and inertial effects), so I have very strong confidence that the projectiles in T:V will indeed inherit at least part of the source's velocity.

I found it easier to ma in T1 than in T2, and I personally like the feel of the T1 disc more than the T2 one.

i find it annoying when you fire a disc to clear mines and then kill yourself on the RC stand....

short distance Yes, Long distance = T1 is winner

Long distance it is pretty much the same for me. I do like the feel of the t1 disc better as it feels like it has some kick to it. The t2 disc felt like you just sort of threw a frisbee rather then you were launching one.

The T2 disc flies much faster than the Tribes disc, and the Classic disc is even faster than the base one. As a result, it is actually much easier to MA in it T2. A faster projectile means there is less time for the target to move away from it's current trajectory, so if you lead correctly, you are more likely to hit.

The appearance of speed change is because of the "halo" animation around the disc. The glow around the disc actually changes size as it first leaves the gun. First it swells up, then shrinks to the "normal" size. Viewed from behind (ie: the shooter's view), this tweakes the appearance of the projectile shrinking as it moves away from you, making it seem to slow then accelerate.

If you find it harder to MA in T2, IMO you really just didn't play it enough to make the adjustment.

T1 MA's are more impressive than T2 MA's b/c the T1 disk has more hangtime, hence more lead is required, hence more skill in judging where the target is going to be.

I like both disklaunchers tho. it's all about what you're used to. i wouldn't make the t:v disks any slower than t1 tho.

Just to be clear, my description of the T2 disc speed wasn't meant to be an endorsement of it, only an explanation.

The T1 "hangtime" effect makes T1 MA masters more impressive, IMO. It doesn't matter a lot to me, but I do think the two games represent the extremes: make it no slower than T1 and no faster than T2 classic.
