Cowboy 04-06-2004, 10:12 PM it's a good time to go for a nice walk, perhaps
-Dark-Angel- 04-06-2004, 10:13 PM bad power supply? (check the switch on the back to make sure its on the right voltage)
if not that.. mobo is dead. or bios is dead, or cpu is dead.
Ixiterra 04-06-2004, 10:26 PM Well if you want to go cheapest route first, put a new battery in. Sony 2032. Are the fans spinning up and everything? If so, probably isn't the PSU. Maybe somehow the BIOS got corrupted (can you do the ctrl-home thing with your mobo?). Try replacing the PSU if you have a spare, obviously.
psc777 04-06-2004, 10:39 PM NO, its as if theres no power plugged into it, like i forgot to plug it in.
Im leaving batt out, psu unplugged mobo unplugged and goin out, then work, ill come home to see what happens. The pc didnt get bumbed, moved or anything since it was last running, and its plugged into an APC.
iNVAR 04-07-2004, 03:47 PM hang on, the power supply fan doesn't even come on? doublecheck that the power on switch is connected to the motherboard properly. if so, and still nothing, disconnect it completely and then jumper pin 13 and 14 on the ATX power connector for the power supply. (http://www.hardwarebook.net/connector/power/atxpower.html) this will cause it to power on. if it doesn't, your PS is dead.
oh, and of course, replace the power cord just to be sure.
-Dark-Angel- 04-07-2004, 03:49 PM is the switch on the back of the power supply switched to the line? or the O?
psc777 04-15-2004, 09:49 PM UPDATE
Ok, Heres the Deal, left mobo batt out and psu unplugged for a day, it booted, COOL! turned it off, waited til vid card came in (today) put it in, booted up great, no problems. i shut it down to put my KVM on and while i was doin so the damn thing turned on all by itself!!!! WTH I shut it off, finished hookin up the kvm, and then it wouldnt power up!!!! It does power my LED mouse pads, but hit switch and nothing. I grabbed another psu, nothing! ran out and bought a new cmos battery, still nothing. Messed with the switch/wires a bit, nothing happened,
Ideas?
at this point im leaning towards a bad mobo
rathbone 04-15-2004, 09:55 PM or ghosts
iNVAR 04-16-2004, 10:41 AM someone had a problem like this once and it had to do with the KVM being connected improperly. something about one of the wires looping back to itself, or the KVM itself being broken.
psc777 04-17-2004, 02:16 PM Had this issue before the kvm tho. and have tried with nothing plugged in, to keyboard only plugged in, and so forth
I don't know if this will help but... I once knocked the clip off the CMOS jumper while building and the whole machine was dead as a doornail. It was only when I went to clear it (After trying a bunch of other shit! :)) that I noticed the clip was not there. GodDamn....
psc777 04-18-2004, 05:16 PM Lol, that sucks, naw thats not it, appreciate the input.
I did decide to mess with one more time, took one ram stick out, and it booted!, so i turned it off, and put it back in, no boot. Took it back out, no boot. took it all out, no boot, tuesday new mobo comes
