This is what I did:

I installed NIC with the latest drivers off Intel's site and it showed up in my device manager as working and ready to surf. But whenever I open up any webpage in Firefox (or IE) I cant connect to anything.

My connection under my network places says its working and sending packets but receiving "0."

I have no idea what to do! Should I send it back to newegg?

could be a broken nic, but i'd first figure out if you're even getting an ip address.

what is the NIC plugged in to? A cable/dsl modem? Is there a "crossover" switch on the back? (try changing it). Did you use the cable supplied with the modem? Is the LINK light on the NIC lit?

Its plugged into my PCI slot? Cable modem. No switches on back. I have the cable supplied w/ the modem. Yes, the link light is flashing.

Many cable modems bind to the mac address of the nic, and require a release if you are swapping out cards. Open a command prompt and run ipconfig /all and see what IP address you are getting. If it's a 169.254.x.x address you aren't getting an IP from the cablemodem. Try powercycling the cable modem, but you may need to call your ISP support and have them update with your new mac address. (If you have no connect for 2 days they quite often release themselves)

Fuck it, I'm sending the PoS back. It should have been as easy as 1 2 3 but it wasnt. There's something wrong.

way to give up. the funny thing is, even if you got another nic, it'll probably still not work, teehee.
