Just curious as to what kinds of tunes we'll be bumpin' to when the game is released.

Rosdower 03-28-2004, 12:28 PM community bands and such, i think i'd be cool to hear bounty's (or my) band do an instrumental SilentDeath 03-28-2004, 02:35 PM I hope we can have playlists, or atleast more songs than 4 songs that loop all game. Ben Reed 03-28-2004, 02:45 PM my guess national socialist black metal, dutch speedcore and japanese visual kei by turns :rocker: Now there's an odd combination, particularly with the visual kei bands, which are basically just harder-edged hair metal bands whose main gimmick is not nearly so much their music as it is their effeminate, woman-attracting looks. The Nazi metal idea sounds pretty cool, though. MIDAIR MICHT FREI! Myself, I was kind of hoping for quirky stuff with some jazz/symphonic elements in addition to the standard clanging-and-clanking industrial and the obligatory gruff guitar numbers that practically every FPS has these days. A couple of intense violin stings when fighting someone in midair or a few sultry saxophone notes while dashing around dodging fire in single-player would strike me as worth a listen if done properly. But who am I kidding? I'll just replace the in-game playlist with the Guilty Gear X2 soundtrack when I get my hands on the game anyway. /me AIR GUITAR :rocker: knuckle 03-29-2004, 12:17 AM Simply, Shazfunk. :D SINep 03-29-2004, 12:22 AM I doubt we will see John Zorns Naked city on this one... (crosses fingers) Some Kataklysm would be nice. Uncle Silas 03-29-2004, 11:19 PM I'll do some music for T:V if asked. Ben Reed 03-29-2004, 11:34 PM I'll do some music for T:V if asked. I would wholeheartedly approve of this. I liked the feel of "The Chase" far more than the typical pounding industrial and jugga-jugga-jugga of most FPS soundtracks. I like quirky stuff, with brass and strings and woodwinds and other nice acoustic instruments, I think it lends much richer atmosphere than mere computer-generated wall-of-noise stuff. Heavy stuff may lend itself better to killing, but Tribes isn't just about ground-pounding on foot and in vehicles. Tribes is about style, about a musical flair as you flit through the air like a butterfly raining death on your enemies, and I think a quirky ambience with an Uncle Silas-style soundtrack rather than a hard-edged ambience with typical techno and industrial would lend itself better overall to T:V. Fraggy Poo 03-30-2004, 12:11 AM Wouldn't it be great if Irrational pulled a Marvel vs Capcom 2 when it comes to music? Gonna take you for a ride! Gonna take you for a ride! Gonna take you for a ride! Ben Reed 03-30-2004, 12:15 AM Wouldn't it be great if Irrational pulled a Marvel vs Capcom 2 when it comes to music? Gonna take you for a ride! Gonna take you for a ride! Gonna take you for a ride! :scared: I'm not talking THAT whimsical, mind you. I'm talking quirky, but peppy. Stuff like The Chase, with a nice bit of acoustic guitar with a refreshing melody, but with a tempo that still befits flying across the map at Mach 2 through a hail of chaingun slugs. | ||
