Copying Files Problem

Whenever I try to copy files from other PCs on my home network it maxes out my cpu and takes longer than what it should, but my PC is the only that seems to have this problem. I know that a bad HD is a possiblity, but what setting HD-wise or network-wise on my PC can I check or change? Thx.

what happens when you go on your pc and those same files to somewhere else on your pc? if it's fast, then it's not your hd.

maybe you just have a POS network card.

or a pos cable linking the pc's, need system and network specs thanks.
