I had my last mobo blow due to bad capacitors.
I got an Asus mobo - the basic Nforce 2 one
AMD XP3000+
2 X 512MB - Kingston HyperX CAS2.0
GF4 Ti4600
Hitachi 180G
Audigy2 6.1
Pretty good system - Vid is a bit old, but still very fast in any game - just lacks some of the best DX9 eye candy.
Every game I try (except Far Cry demo) is silky smooth on this system. I dont run anything significant in the background.
When I run T2, I feel like I am getting maybe 20-30 fps anytime I look at a building or anything geometrically complex.
When I look at plain landscape, it gets real fast 60-100fps+ but when it slows down, its frustrating.
I did not have this problem on my XP1800 system with 256MB and the same vid card.
Are there certain drivers that work badly in T2 or something I should check? I have tried lowering the detail, and it helps a little, but I still have the problem - and my system should get a constant 100+fps at full detail on T2
