Instead of a laser pointer that takes up a weapon spot

Becaues the only real use for it was as a light show or pointer. Because it's not a weapon, but it's used like a weapon. Because it confused new players who would "shoot" other players with it and be frustrated that it didn't do any damage. Because it still takes time to model and build it and I'd rather spend that time doing other things.

Let me be the first to say that I'm not the most intelligent person in the gaming community but I read the manual and the weapon didn't confuse me at all.

Maybe I give the average gamer too much credit but it doesn't seem like a complicated concept to grasp.

However, knowing that they should repair the gens before the invs will work IS confusing to many new players and the laser 'pointer' is an invaluable tool in showing them the correct order of things.

:)

But, whatever. If it needs to be modded in I'll do the model and someone else can write the code.

The only real justification in removing it is the time it takes to model/build, but I don't see how that's an issue. They have time to add worthless weapons like the knife. How hard is it to make one extra weapon/model? Coding should be simple given that you don't have to spend any time balancing it. Just make it shoot a green version of the laser rifle's beam.

Not worthless, its needed in SP and maybe even in MP so that players can still do something after they run out of ammo. And even if its extremely weak weapon in MP, it is still way more usefull than targeting laser ever was.

Im pretty sure that Irrational comes up with some new ways to give signals to your teammates, and even if they dont, it wont change anything. Once T:V is here, noone will miss targeting laser.

I cant believe that some people actually whine about this. I rather have a new game, not t1/t2 again.
