Becaues the only real use for it was as a light show or pointer. Because it's not a weapon, but it's used like a weapon. Because it confused new players who would "shoot" other players with it and be frustrated that it didn't do any damage. Because it still takes time to model and build it and I'd rather spend that time doing other things.
Let me be the first to say that I'm not the most intelligent person in the gaming community but I read the manual and the weapon didn't confuse me at all.
Maybe I give the average gamer too much credit but it doesn't seem like a complicated concept to grasp.
However, knowing that they should repair the gens before the invs will work IS confusing to many new players and the laser 'pointer' is an invaluable tool in showing them the correct order of things.
:)
But, whatever. If it needs to be modded in I'll do the model and someone else can write the code.
