Zoolooman 03-27-2004, 12:05 AM I really think it's just a slow disc. You can count the seconds.
Edit: Then I watch it, and sometimes the discs seem fast, but on the long shots, they seem slow. :/
Fugitive 03-27-2004, 12:43 AM I smell shock lance.
{A} PR24 03-27-2004, 01:11 AM I smell shock lance.
I smell....NO
=BL=VorteX 03-27-2004, 11:48 AM what was that other weapon that had like 5 bullet tracer kinda thingys. dunno what it was. look like the burner but dunno if that was it.
edit: blaster projectiles. hmm dunno if i like those. for somereason i thought it would be more solid but since they changed it to "shotgun" style i guess it makes sense...
Fling 03-27-2004, 12:43 PM wow... gamespot is amazingly gay. I won't be downloading anything from there again.
Fling :D
Ben Reed 03-27-2004, 03:21 PM Zoo: It's the new trail on the disc, I think, that makes the disc speed seem slower than normal. From my perspective, the discs seemed to be at the same speed as ever.
Having re-watched Movie #5, I think I get how the EB works now. It looks to have surprisingly long range (at least that of the shocklance) by emitting a rather long laser-blade thingy to actually "stab" the enemy. It's hard to judge the range at first due to the way the player hooks his arm inwards when he thrusts.
Also, I finally figured out that it's not an MA blade that kills the AI guy in the video, but the turret thingy in the middle of the arena. It was kind of hard to tell because of the angle of the POV.
The ads before the streaming Gamespot movies were indeed gayer than Liberace and Richard Simmons in a scented, candlelit bathtub. However, they're still peanuts on the gag-me-with-a-whale-penis scale of horrible bloatedness and infuriation that is GameSpy.
Oxide 03-27-2004, 03:28 PM Too bad the sound is all messed up, some stuff sounds really weird like when landing.... I guess there is no better version available.
I wonder how long it will take to make a mutator with a EB buffed to Shocklance-level... :weird:

Maybe. Maybe not. I have to try it in person to be sure.

I disagree. This EB doesn't look that long range.
pyrot3chnic 03-27-2004, 03:41 PM Ahem.. pm me on irc and you'll get a present, which i will not offer here because I'll most likely get banned.
Zoolooman 03-27-2004, 03:45 PM Dynamix is down.
pyrot3chnic 03-27-2004, 03:46 PM Medic!
Yes, when it comes back up
Zoolooman 03-27-2004, 08:04 PM You know what? I feel super stupid.
The disc launcher in the first 4 vids is slower than the disc launcher in the last 4 vids.
The disc was several times faster at the GDC than at the Press Conference. No wonder I kept getting the funky impression that the disc was sometimes fast, sometimes slow. In the first four videos (at the Press Conference) it is slow. In the last four, it is fast.
If it needs to be any faster? Well, that remains to be seen at beta time.
SniperOmega 03-27-2004, 08:12 PM Wow great! Tell me more on how i can view these movies like any other interested person on the internet, WITHOUT needing a gayspot account.

Erect Tit 03-28-2004, 03:49 AM I think the knife looks lame...
Anyway since they don't listen to what people think I guess I'll have to settle with hoping to hell it atleast takes tons of hits to kill anyone.
posionspider, you got to be kidding me though... 3 hits to kill a light? 4 med? 5 heavy?! you think the armor diff between light and heavy is 2 fudgeing hits with a knife? I would like to ATLEAST see 5 hits for a light, 8 for a med and like 15 for a heavy... Heavy should bascially be immortal to the stupid knife.
*edit*
I think the knife should take that many or MORE hits to kill anyone because after you kill your first few newbie shmucks you should have you hands on a weapon that SHOOTS... and we can then just scrap the need for the knife they had to invent for that reason.
Zoolooman 03-28-2004, 05:32 AM I agree that the knife should do little damage, but I don't think it should be totally worthless either. Five hits on a light doesn't sound bad. The extra armor of the medium and heavy should scale up easily from there.

Thriky 03-28-2004, 08:16 AM Yeah, I haven't signed up for a gamespot "please spam me" account yet.
I haven't recieved any spam, and I've been signed up for around a month. ¬¬
Ben Reed 03-28-2004, 11:15 AM Ooh! Ooh! Question! Question!
Hey Thrax, can the energy blade be switched to at will like a normal gun, or does it only come out if you deplete all three guns (like the gauntlet in Q3A)?:
Thrax Panda 03-28-2004, 04:05 PM Undecided.
pyrot3chnic 03-28-2004, 04:08 PM I'd like to see it like the TL was in the previous games. Keep it out of the next/previous weapon rotation, but let us assign a button to it if we want.
