The repair pack "defined" Tribes? Not hardly.
It was one of the many unique aspects of Tribes. The timing of using it was a skill in itself, so removing it is just another way of dumbing the game down.
Boost pads are an "added" element.
Added elements are not necessarily good. This is a renegades-ish feature. In Crom's thread, KP said that not all maps have them, so I don't think this is too big of an issue.
Jet boost is an "added" element.
It's a bad feature from renegades/havok.
Nano Repair Pack is a HUGE enhancement to previous repair packs.
An OVERPOWERING enhancement to previous repair packs.
The maps are large, we've seen 'em in action. At the moment it's heresay about limited map size.
Thrax said that some maps have boundaries far outside of the mission area, which is good. Hopefully the oob area is as large as T1's. From KP's post, this doesn't sound standard, though.
Huge inbound areas allow people to hide, which slows the game down.
Having to worry about going oob with the flag adds extra difficulty to capping. It's too easy if you can just run into the edge and bounce off. Also, perfecting routes that go out of bounds for a few seconds is something that takes a lot of skill.
So far, you're arguing about nothing. Some things are being removed, some things are changing. But LOTS of things are being added, and some changes are for the better.
And from the sounds of it, some changes could be for the worse :(
