Amadeus 03-25-2004, 10:07 AM ofn VaporTrail 03-25-2004, 10:20 AM Do the words "Photo artifact" ring a bell? They should... What caused the "blur" on those screens is the same mechanic what causes motion blur in photos in real life... the subject being photographed moved while the exposure was taking place. VektorX 03-25-2004, 10:27 AM but what if the exposure was like 0.00000000000001 seconds?!?!?!?! WAHT IFFFFFFFF!!!!!!@! Vicelord 03-25-2004, 10:35 AM vaportrail, that would mean that the Other features on that screen such as Health, energy and the weapon icons and text, should be blurred aswel right? Which cleary are not VektorX 03-25-2004, 10:42 AM no, they wouldn't be blurred because they are in the same position during exposure. Unless the hud jumps around magically. VaporTrail 03-25-2004, 10:46 AM vaportrail, that would mean that the Other features on that screen such as Health, energy and the weapon icons and text, should be blurred aswel right? Which cleary are not And exactly how far will they move compared to the landscape and the monitor during an exposure time? THINK before you post! If the "stationary" hud elements were blurred, that would mean the camera was moving, and EVERYTHING in that photo would be blurred. The landscape is blurred because the exposure time was some fraction of a second, and during that fraction of a second 3-5 frames (minimum estimate) of video were displayed. Now the HUDs and the weapon didn't move ("much" in the case of the weapon) but the background moved quite a bit. The result is overlapped pixels (blurring). Since the HUDs and the weapon didn't move as much, all of thier pixels overlapped in generally the same places (no blurring) but the landscape moved enough that the pixels spread noticably, therefore the blur. Yogi 03-25-2004, 11:16 AM Obligatory "Reply not new thread" Twisted- 03-25-2004, 11:17 AM You guys ever played NFS underground? WHen your going like 120+ the screen starts shaking and everything gets blurry and the sounds begin to dull out. the faster you go the more the effects increase. it's really intense. this would be sick as fudge but i doubt it will be in the game =/ Azra3l 03-25-2004, 11:45 AM It'd be rather difficult to do things like cap with my screen bouncing all over creation. I was assuming you were talking about the camera itself moving, which obviously was not your point, I stand corrected :roller: Twisted- 03-25-2004, 11:51 AM It'd be rather difficult to do things like cap with my screen bouncing all over creation. It's not that bad just a little vibration... it also gives you a really intense feeling, imagine going in for the flag at like 300 mph and everything is blurring past you (mostly around eges of screen) and the screen is vibrating a lil like your in a jet or something... i don't know how to explain it it's just f-ing cool. One problem... How do you keep that feeling when you're going 300kph... ...sideways? Killjoy 03-25-2004, 12:15 PM The problem with this is that you are adding a negative to a positive. Going really fast is a positive thing that should be rewarded not penalized. If you add motion blur to going really fast you will affect the players ability to shoot at the bad guys... Some of us like to kill stuff + move fast at the same time... if you fudge with that you are fudgeing unnecessarily hampering those who are good enough to go crazy fast and still have good enough prediction to kill the friends chasing him. Killjoy 03-25-2004, 12:16 PM the filter is ghey Twisted- 03-25-2004, 12:19 PM The problem with this is that you are adding a negative to a positive. I did not see it when I was there. The game was very very clear. It was the exposure setting on the camera (I think). It wasn't my camera, so I didn't want to screw with it. Plus I didn't know the pics would turn out blurry until I uploaded them to my comptuer. Twisted- 03-25-2004, 12:26 PM  w/e, it's not like it's going to be in the game anyways Amadeus 03-25-2004, 12:29 PM I got it, let's make vision blurry by default and make it clear out when you go very very fast!!!!
