Is it safe to say if you can run UT2004 at full graphics and special efects on smooth as silk, T:V will be able to do the same?

your machine will be fine, they test on less

[dev answer] T:V is not ut2k4, I repeat, T:V is not ut2k4. We have made several enhancements to the core engine: new player physics, havoc physics for vehicles, and updated netcode. You will need to buy a ATI Radeon 9800 PCI-Express T:V version in order to run all the large textures. This is NOT ut2k4 people.

I bet you'll be fine... wouldn't count on absolute max detail, but would expect you'd be able to have most of the goodness.

IMO, a game should ship with max details and effects that are beyond the capability of current hardware so it still looks good some time after release.

Any value from a PCI X card will take a few more years.. Games/Systems aren't even pushing the bounds of AGP 8x. Save your monies. :)

Anyway PCI-Express should not be confused with PCI-X which was out several years ago. PCI-Express is radically new.

Indeed current graphic card has not breach the capacity of AGP 8X yet.
I won't comment on the upcoming graphic cards though as they said to be 2 times faster than the current fastest graphic card.

However there would be a little (May be very little) improvement with the new interface due to reasons like less CPU utilization, less interference due to less voltage used in the PCI Express interface.
