Hi, I am on a standard Dell built rig from last year. I have a 2.2 ghz with 1 gig of ram, ti4600 etc. Up till recently I had an optical intellimouse which worked perfectly, but as it got older I noticed little things which bothered me about it.

I went to radioshack and bought the best mouse they had, a Nexxtech Optical Scroll Mouse. I unplugged my Intellimouse, plugged in the Nexxtech one and then proceeded to install it with the cd it came with. It went smoothly. I then loaded up Elite Forces 2 and found that the mouse wheel would not respond. I tried Deus Ex and when in control configuration the game didn't recognize the mouse wheel scrolling either.

I then went to settings, control panel, and then clicked on the mouse icon. All of the Intellimouse taskbars were uninstalled, and the new mouse seemed to have all the proper options enabled. Can anyone help me understand why the mouse will scroll in word documents and internet files etc, but not in games... I can't have a mouse that won't let me scroll through my weapon slots etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are running XP why do you need software for the mouse? And why the hell go to ratshack to buy anything?

Take the mouse back, try again. Or uninstall what ever software came with the mouse and let windows recognize the mouse w/o software.

I bought it from radioshack because I happen to walk by it quite often, and it's a mouse which I think is relatively low tech. Anyway, the mouse from radioshack didn't work, and now my intellimouse explorer doesn't work. I'll try uninstalling all the hardware then rebooting and letting it find the mouse on its own... though I don't see what harm the disc it came with can do...

Hahaha I can't believe it... Uninstalling all of the drivers and then just plugging the mouse in and now it works perfectly. God Microsoft are a bunch of fucking tools. Thanks for the suggestion.
