i'm posting from work but i will edit in any more info when i get home if needed.

finally had time to replace my 1 gig amd with a 2600+ barton i bought a while back. everything went smooth except it booted as a 1200. opened the bios and of course the mb default fsb was set at 100. i hopped on amd's site to get the specs i needed to change. amd shows 3 different 2600+ cpu's. mines a retail box and serial ends in 2600bbox which doesn't match the #s on their site(i will edit in the whole # when i get home).

by looking at the specs on the 3 2600+'s 2 of them are 266fsb and 1 is 333fsb. since mine clearly states on the box 512k L2 cache, i figure mines 333fsb.

opend bios again and set bus to 166. vcore and multiplier were set to auto. i set vcore to 1.650 and multiplier to 11.5 according to the specs i found at amd.

it boots and runs fine, but it identifies itself as 2500+ instead of 2600+. i think it was running around 1910mhz or so. should i tweak with it further and is 1900 what it should be running? i cant check amds site here at work since this pc is unix and wont open .pdf files.

i will edit in any info you need this evening.

MSI KT4V-L
Amd 2600+ Barton(retail box)
xp pro retail
512 pc2700 ddr333

this is the machine i put together several months back for editing vids of the kids and digital pics. i swapped cpu's to render video faster.

My 2500+ runs at 1833MHz, so your 2600+ should be doing 1910MHz (166x11.5), thought I don't know why it's showing as a 2500+...

wcpuid shows it as 2500+. yet the box is clearly labeled 2600+. suggestions on what i should do? contact the vender or amd themselves? although the system is rock stable at 1938 mhz.

I think you should leave it. Or even push it farther i hear must 2500+ bartons OC much farther than the 2600+ bartons so...

Bios update perhaps, the board is probably too old to recognize that speed properly.

I'm assuming that the KT4V bios is the same as the KT4V-L, by the way.

I've been running my 2500+ at 2.1ghz and it's pretty stable.

Should have some new ram in (XMS, instead of poo kingston value) that'll only help me out.

Go check out http://forums.amdmb.com for good overclocking advice.
