I had an open proxy on my connection about 2 weeks ago, and Im still banned so that means that its still open. How do I scan for, and fix this problem? I can't get on Dynamix IRC at all with it like this :(

Help.

Are you running through a proxy server? Do a virus scan because some viruses can cause this.

I have scanned my computer several times, but I suppose I am running through a proxy server.

Download TCPView (http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/tcpview.shtml) from sysinternals and find out what process has opened the proxy on your system (port 1080 or 8080). If it comes up clean, it's either your broadband sharing device, or ISP. If it's your ISP get on the phone with support and prepare to be shafted.

Click on tools (in IE) and scroll down to internet options, Then go to connections and click on lan settings.

Make sure that is unchecked.

That's only if you're running through a proxy server, not running one.
Rosco, post a SS of your task manager process tab.

It doesnt matter, it's worth the piece of advice.

No it's not, because he got banned for having an open proxy, not running through a proxy. There's a big difference. The reason I asked him to post a SS was to see if he has any malicious programs running that might cause this. Besides, the internet options settings only affect your web browser and any other programs that grab that data (which mIRC does not, usually only other web browsers do).

The exact error message would be helpful. Big IRC networks will ban wingate and proxy addresses because they don't want people using them to connect, obviously, but I doubt Dynamix has any such practice.
