I have a asus p4p800-D mobo and the 3COM 3C940 controller hookup for my adsl interweb thats located on my motherboard makes alot of high pitch noise! I can see the orange led where the lan cable plugs into it and when it flashes the high pitched noise goes off and on in sync with the led. When I unplug the Lan cable it noise stops.
Anyone have an idea what i can do to stop this noise? After spending alot of time on this comp the high pitch noise makes my head hurt alot and gets very annoying..
Anyone have this problem?
help me please
ps, this is my mobo http://www.asus.com/products/mb/soc...-d/overview.htm
thank u tw for your time.

The only thing I can think of is you've got a bad capacitor on the board. You won't be able to fix something like that. Best bet is to contact your vendor or Asus support and RMA the board.

The noise is coming through your speakers or headphones?
If so, make sure the audio wires and the network cable are not wrapped together. You can also get a $4 magnetic choke from Radio Shack and put it on your audio cables.
The sound could also be from the internal PC speaker. Try unplugging it and see what happens.

I hear the sound when i have my headphones off, its a high pitched sound that i can hear over the fans running.. :(
I removed the internal PC speaker awhile ago =/
It seems the sound has stoped for now, but it comes back after awhile.
Its off and on...

Try unplugging all speakers, and even your telephone, and see if it still happens. I bet it's interference.
If not, I suspect a slight change in voltage is causing your cpu fan to spin up and down a bit. Does it happen any other time, like when you are playing games?

I think ive found the problem!!!!!!!
I put my ear up to the rear powersupply fan and it seems the high pitch sound is coming from inside... Time for a new powersupply?
