True and I'll drop it. But dude you have changed, and IMO not for the better.

Fubar, I think you're wrong. Colosus *has* changed, but I think he's changed for the better. I was completely anti-Colosus when he came over here to TribalWar from tribesnews.com or tribes2playerswannabesite .com or whatever, because he was heavy-handed in the forums and on IRC and tended to throw power around.

(Well, not much has changed. :D )

Seriously, he's chilled out a lot. I have been around through all of this, and it's not really Col that has changed for the worse - it's that the site, the community, and the things going on here have deepened from just being a fanboy site with forums to being a true one-stop-shop for all things Tribes.

Remember, we didn't used to have things like WOFN, the TW league, the Tribes Talk forum which is whored by practically the entire Dev team for T:V, TW dollars/betting, or *nearly* the traffic this site now garners. It's a lot of responsibility, and that means putting into place policies that not everyone always likes, and making calls not everyone agrees with.

This is not your Grandfather's Tribal War. This place used to be news, a demo section, forums, and Pic of the Day. It's a lot more than that now.

Whenever anything "homegrown" gets popular, this sort of thing happens. Why do you think UVALAN has gotten backlash and negative press for some of the decisions we've made? Well, like TW, we're no longer the "underground", small-time, run-by-two-guys operation. Once you reach a certain critical mass, people start rooting for the little guys, the underdogs, and accuse the "top dog" of anything and everything.

eh...if it comes with a refund, I am sure I could use the money to help with servers or to pay for my spot at the dallas megaLAN. I sent money to TW to help it out...I think col used the money (mostly) for that...I am fine with that...I believe col when he said he didn't use it for plane tickets.

Wouldn't it be fucking great if I could call PBS to get my donation back because I don't like the fact that they program Lawrence Welk and Masterpiece Theater?

Hey you fucking cockwads -- if you don't like how the money's being spent, don't fucking donate. Want a refund? WAH -- TOO FUCKING BAD. Welcome to the real fucking world where things don't always go your way. The truth is though that nobody here was screwed over! It's not as if Matt went out and spent $5,000 to build an aquarium in his back yard for an Orca that he makes love to every night (and morning), laughing all the while about how he suckered the poor saps of TW as he slides his little willie into the big Willy. How do you know your donations help? Easy -- YOU'RE STILL ABLE TO FUCKING POST HERE -- the site is still up and running! So, quit your fucking whining already. It's absolutely ridiculous that this thread has grown to the size it has. Sure, Matt may be a sad, lonely man who doesn't get laid at the LANs he goes to (much through his own expense), where he gets the scoop on a lot of things most people here are anxious to know about (T:V, etc) -- but he's a sad, lonely man who is DEDICATED to YOU PEOPLE and this community. It's more than I can say for a lot of people here who probably have NOT even contributed but still feel they have some sort of entitlement to bitch about it. In fact, maybe you DO have an entitlement to, since this is one of the most liberal forums on the planet ... so enjoy your "right" to gripe and moan like a six-year-old girl who just found out she'll never be able to grow a penis and stick it inside of a gorilla ... just know that you only possess that right because of the efforts of people like Matt, and those who contribute. If you are a contributor, then you probably have been here long enough to know better -- shame on you. Sure, it's fine to question -- but the questions have been answered and the consensus seems to be that most people are fine with the explanation. Now the question is, "What the fuck is YOUR problem?" So, let this thread drift into oblivion like the career of stage magicians who have their balls ripped off by white tigers -- the staff of TW isn't out to fuck you. And the staff of WOFN is not out to fuck Colosus, as he found out when he flew Pixie to San Fran (you fucking sucker, Matt!) So, that being said, let's all drop our drawers, participate in some group llama sex and forget this entire thing, because it's sillier than the chances of El Mariachi hooking up with a woman he isn't related to. Thanks.

P.S. I still need a roommate. Anyone want to come live with me and help come up with more large text to bork forums with?

How high's the water Mamma? Two feet high and risin'
How high's the water Pappa? She said it's two feet high and risin'
Well we can make it to the road in a home made boat
'Cause that's the only thing we got left that'll float
It's already over all the wheat and oats
Two feet high and risin'

So do you normally have conversations with fraggle, or did you go to him knowing he would cause some drama? If you wanted to raise your "concerns" you could have done it yourself instead of hiding behind him. You knew what you were doing, don't try and backtrack now.

Actually, yes. I do normally have conversations with fraggle.

I'm going to respond to what Cheater said earlier and in whole what happened here.

Firstly, I see nothing wrong with making a profit, ever, unless it is at the detriment of others.

BUT... there is a time and a place for profits and profits should always come with the responsibility of being honest.

I have a problem with how the money was spent and it furthered my reasons for not ever contributing to anything except where I have descretion as to how the dollars are spent. The fact of the matter is the dollars where sent in for a need, it was specifically earmarked for new hardware. I see no difference in the validity of the reaction of some of the people who are upset about this as to when the Red Cross decided to spend a vast percentage of the money people specifically sent in for 9/11 assuming it to be earmarked for that and only that, only to find out a majority of the funds would be spent on other projects including the purchase of new Red Cross assets that would not even be used in the United States. Sorry, that's dishonest, and when people are dishonest there is every right for others involved to be upset.

Now, regarding UVALan, if you want it to be a profitable business venture, I would harbor not one ill feeling towards you for it. In fact I think it would be awesome if you could make a living at it, I know I would love it.

BUT... that is not what UVALan has been about. It was a community gathering, had I had the opportunity to come to the east coast I would have loved to have been there. And I would have assumed that it was by and for the community, meaning that every dollar was spent for a reason and not for profit.

By all means, everyone has the right to profit off of their hard work, but lets be honest about it.
