Ok... Yankee started a thread for donations to get me to UVA. He accepted the donations and he sent me the money to buy me the ticket. I had absolutely nothing to do with it.... that's fine

Last I heard, you can't get in UVALAN without PAYING. TW != UVALAN. If you volunteer time to the community, great, but don't expect anything out of it.

IMO, a laptop was overkill. There was no real need to make it a live event. It wasn't that great and they didn't even test the in game video feed to make sure it worked. So all I saw was a skewed view of a game at crappy resolution. It wasn't worth the cost of a laptop (IMO IMO IMO IMO). If a digital camcorder just recorded the show and uploaded the next day, that would have been perfect.

I totally accept the fact that he is free to do what he wants with the donations, but only if he discloses what he plans to do with it. Even though I think the laptop is a complete waste of money, if he had said something about it, then I wouldn't really care.

I didn't donate for colosus, I didn't donate for live events, I didn't donate for a laptop, I DID donate for a new server. Hell I didn't even agree with the way he planned on upgrading the system, but I donated anyway.

Plans change sometimes and thats understandable but if people donated believing that it was going to a server, it might just piss some people off....regardless of whether or not you agree. Had Col been running a donation drive for a charity, only to take the funds and buy a ticket to Australia to hand deliver the rest of the funds, it would piss people off. People make donations knowing where the money is going. People PAY for services to get the service and don't care what they do with the money. I wasn't paying to access TW, I was paying to upgrade TW...laptop wasn't an upgrade.

God forbid anyone should use the money we get from the Tribes community to better ourselves after countless hours of work we put in. I guess it's only fair that only Sierra/Vivendi make the money from the players who buy the game. Why should anyone profit from keeping the game alive and the community together.

So fuck everyone who wants to criticize Colosus. I refuse to be pulled into this bullshit. Let's just all forget UVaLAN 6. There's just way too much potential for me to profit from a year's worth of planning and the financial entanglements that make it work. It's the only reasonable thing to say.
