=NEEC= Tummy 02-27-2004, 12:22 AM You, sir, are an inspiration.
Thank You for the story. Thank You for being here. Thank You for protecting our country. And Thank You for being you.
I wish you and yours good roads and fair weather.
*salutes*
No truer words have been said.
blackie420rx 02-27-2004, 12:31 AM Damn. That made me cry like nothing has for a long time.
I had to take a break and come back to it. I'm glad it has had a decent ending.
I'd hate to know what you felt that day. I know that when I call my daughter, each day when she gets home from school (her mother and I never got married, and she now has a step father), it makes my day entirely perfect. On those days that I don't get to talk to her, I actually find myself to be a little bit moody, and sometimes aggrivated. I suppose that's what a child's love does for you though. It really makes you feel happy, and helps you through life more than anything else I can describe. I don't know how you got through that first day, much less any more of the time you were taken away from your son.
Damn. Much, much, much respect to you for being able to deal with this. I have a friend in my situation, who is a single father who loves his daugher very much. I can always tell when he hasn't talked to her on a daily basis, because the first day, he'll call me on my cell phone. The second day, he'll call me 2 or 3 times. I honestly think he's almost as addicted to the love he gets from his daughter as I am to the love my daughter gives me. I really don't know what I would do if I ever lost her, and I cannot fathom how strong you must be to have endured losing your son for more than a day or two. You truly are an inspiration to loving parents everywhere!
 to you! I hope your life continues to go well, and that your son continues contact with you for so long as both your hearts beat!

MaxxCarnage 02-27-2004, 12:37 AM I don't know if you remember me Viet, but we had talked. I was friends with another clan that was kinda buddy buddy with WRH back in T1, I played with one of the WRH guys who had brain surgery (can't remember which of you guys it was) but I always remembered you as good guys. Fantastic story, and best of luck.

Minstrel 02-27-2004, 01:26 AM I cried reading this as well. Much love to you VV and to your son as well. May the rest of your lives be filled with nothing but happiness. Lord knows you have both suffered enough.
Oh Heck[Inq] 02-27-2004, 01:30 AM Thats an impressive and moving story VV. Will have to listen to the WOFN interview as well, since I was at class during the live broadcast. ALot of hardship, but in the end a resounding victory for both you and your son. The best to both of you.
vawlk 02-27-2004, 01:36 AM I just listened to the cast and wow.
Having a 1.5 yr old boy I kept trying to imagine being in your shoes. You had be wiping my cheeks many times throughout the cast. I am so glad that you had a happy ending after so many setbacks.
I will definately go see this movie!
<3
Oh Heck[Inq] 02-27-2004, 02:15 AM Well, listened to the broadcast and I got misty eyed. It's wonderful to hear in a fathers voice the extent of his love for his son. Your son is very fortunate to have a father that cares for him so deeply. THanks again Wallace, for sharing a very personal part of your history with us.
ReCurve 02-27-2004, 03:28 AM God job old man, I haven't cried like that in a while, tonight I'll sleep like a baby.
ps. give Sean a hardy hug for me. I know you love all the kids, but after listing to this gut wrenching story I'm so glad you were lucky enough to have another little boy to grab and hold on to.
ah fuck I'm crying again

-iA- Sass 02-27-2004, 06:44 AM Great PS work and touching story. I'd just make the suggestion that whatever picture is chosen to be the final, you might as well clean up the wall in the background. The smudged look (even if it is original) has been bothering me since the first picture.
Viet_Vet 02-27-2004, 07:01 AM Interesting story, but wouldn't a former vice president of Western Union know how to use the enter key?
Sorry, but I don't get it.
